Removal of the Protective Breathing Equipment (Smoke Hoods) in the Cabin

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

   (1) For the location of this component, refer to paragraph Component Location
(Ref. AMM D/O 35-32-00-00).
   (2) If necessary, open the applicable door(s).
4. Procedure
Subtask 35-32-52-020-057-A
A. Removal of the Smoke Hood Container
NOTE: This procedure shows all possible configurations of smoke hood installation. The removal must be done in relation to the configuration of the aircraft.
   (1) Remove the smoke hood container as applicable:
     (a) From the headrest of the Cabin Attendant Seat (CAS)
     (b) From the Overhead Stowage Compartment (OHSC)
   (2) For removal of smoke hood containers attached with screws:
     (a) Open the transparent cover, door or lid (2).
     (b) Remove the smoke hood (1).
     (c) Remove the hole plugs (8) from the access holes (6) as applicable.
     (d) If there are protective tapes on the heads of the screws (5):
  • remove the protective tapes from the heads of the screws (5)
  • temporarily put marks to identify the locations of the protective tapes in the smoke hood container (7).
     (e) Remove the screws (5), the washers (4) and the smoke hood container (7).
   (3) For removal of smoke hood containers attached with screws and with a red velcro strap:
     (a) Hold the loop of the red velcro strap (20) which is attached to the lid (19).
     (b) Pull the red velcro strap (20) to break the tamper seal (14).
     (c) Use the yellow nylon strap (21) to pull the smoke hood (11) carefully from the smoke hood container (17).
     (d) Remove the hole plugs (15) from the access holes (16).
     (e) Remove the screws (13) and the washers (12).
     (f) Remove the smoke hood container from the structure (18).
