3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Obey the special precautions when you do work on a gaseous oxygen system (Ref. AMM TASK 35-00-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that the ground service network is energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

   (2) Make sure that the related door(s) is(are) open, if necessary.
4. Procedure
Subtask 35-32-52-420-054-A
A. Installation of the Smoke Hood Container
NOTE: This procedure shows all possible configurations of smoke hood installation. The installation must be done in relation to the configuration of the aircraft.

   (1)      (a) On the smoke hood container, make sure that:
  • You can read the pictogram.
  • You can see the indicator and it is not red, pink or damaged.
  • The tamper seal is not broken.
  • The permitted life time is not expired.
     (b) Carefully put the smoke hood container in the headrest of the CAS.
     (c) Make sure that the smoke hood container is correctly attached to the headrest of the CAS.
NOTE: The smoke hood container will not move when it is correctly attached to the headrest of the CAS.
     (d) Close the headrest door of the CAS.
   (2)      (a) On the smoke hood container, make sure that:
  • You can read the pictogram.
  • You can see the indicator and it is not red, pink or damaged.
  • The tamper seal is not broken.
  • The permitted life time is not expired.
     (b) Carefully put the smoke hood container in position in the OHSC.
     (c) Safety the smoke hood container with the strap(s).
NOTE: The smoke hood container will not move when it is correctly attached.
   (3)      (a) Make sure that:
  • The foil bag with the smoke hood (1) is removed from the smoke hood container (7).
  • The smoke hood container is not broken or damaged.
  • The vacuum seal of the foil bag is tightly compressed.
  • The permitted life time is not expired.
     (b) Put the smoke hood container (7) in the installation position and install the washers (4) and the screws (5) through the access holes (6).
     (c) Install the hole plugs (8) into the access holes (6) if applicable.
     (d) Install the protective tapes in position on the heads of the screws (5) as identified during the removal procedure if applicable.
     (e) Put the smoke hood (1) into the smoke hood container (7).
     (f) Close the cover, door or lid (2).
     (g) Install the new tamper seals (3) if previously installed.
   (4)      (a) Make sure that:
  • The foil bag with the smoke hood (11) is removed from the smoke hood container (17).
  • You can read the pictogram.
  • You can see the indicator and it is not red, pink or damaged.
  • The smoke hood container is not broken or damaged.
  • The vacuum seal of the foil bag is tightly compressed.
  • The permitted life time is not expired.
     (b) Put the smoke hood container (17) in the installation position and install the washers (12) and the screws (13) to the structure (18).
     (c) Install the hole plugs (15) in the access holes (16).
     (d) Carefully put the smoke hood (11) into the smoke hood container (17).
     (e) Make sure that the red velcro strap (20) is in good condition.
     (f) Make sure that you can see the humidity indicator through the window or inspection window.
     (g) Install a new tamper seal (14):
  • Open the lid (19).
  • Put the knotted end of the tamper seal (14) in the hole on the edge of the lid.
  • Put the knotted end of the tamper seal (14) in the hole located in front of the smoke hood container (17).
  • Close the lid (19).
  • Make sure that the lid (19) is completely safetied with the red velcro strap (20).
  • Put the knotted end of the tamper seal (14) through the hole in the tab that reads "ENTER".
NOTE: The knotted end of the cable tie will go only through one side of the tab of the tamper seal (14).
  • Pull the knotted end through the tab of the tamper seal (14) that reads "ENTER"
  • Cut the part of the knotted end of the tamper seal (14) which is more than 0.5 IN. (13 MM).
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) If necessary, close the door(s) that you opened to get access.
   (3) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
