Subtask 31-36-00-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Do a print out of the engine and APU hours and cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-007) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-006).
NOTE: The software load can erase the data of the engine and APU hours and cycles in the DMU. The print out gives a hard copy of this data.
If necessary, you can refer to the printout to correct the engine and APU hours and cycles.
NOTE: A loss of all the modifications done before through the MCDU programming menu can occur after the software installation.
NOTE: Reports counters will be also set to their initial condition.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration for the AIDS Software Load Procedure with the PDL
   (1) In the avionics compartment, on the DMU, make sure that the OPERATING/STORAGE switch is in the OPERATING position.
NOTE: This enables the battery backup buffering of all internal DMU data stored in the volatile memory in case of external power shut-down.
   (2) On the front panel of the DMU, open the left flap to get access to the DMU front connector.
   (3) On the YV68A110 PORTABLE DATA LOADER (referred to as "PDL"), make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
   (4) Connect the 360-02971-400 ADAPTER CABLE to the DMU front connector and to the PDL.
   (5) Make sure that all of the software disks are not write-protected.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration for the AIDS Software Load Procedure with the MDDU
   (1) In the avionics compartment, on the front panel of the DMU, open the left flap to get access to the OPERATION/STORAGE switch.
   (2) Make sure that the OPERATION/STORAGE switch of the DMU is in the OPERATION position.
NOTE: This enables the battery backup buffering of all internal DMU data stored in the volatile memory in case of external power shut-down.
   (3) Make sure that all of the software disks are not write-protected.

Subtask 31-36-00-710-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. System-Software Load Procedure with the PDL
NOTE: The standard vendor system-software is available on three disks:
  • Disk 1/3 is for an A/C equipped with IAE engines.
  • Disk 2/3 is for an A/C equipped with CFMI engines and standard EVMU.
  • Disk 3/3 is for an A/C equipped with CFMI engines and extended EVMU.
For this procedure, it is necessary to use only the disk which is applicable for the A/C installed engine-type.
NOTE: If a standard EVMU replaces an extended EVMU, it is necessary to load the DMU software from disk 2/3.
If an extended EVMU replaces a standard EVMU, it is necessary to load the DMU software from disk 3/3.
NOTE: For the software part number, it is necessary to refer to the IPC.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the PDL:
On the PDL display:
  • Put the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
  • The software loading is in progress.
  • Put the software disk with DMU SYSTEM SOFTWARE in the PDL.
NOTE: It is necessary to use only the disk which is applicable for the A/C installed engine-type.
  • These indications show in a short time:
    READY
    WAIT RESPONSE
    TRANSF IN PROG.
  • Wait until the TRANSF COMPLETE indication comes on.
  • TRANSF COMPLETE shows after the load procedure is completed correctly.

NOTE: Usually the time to load the software is between 3 and 5 minutes. If the load procedure is completed after some seconds, the disk is incorrect or the A/C is not in ground configuration (engine stopped and landing gear compressed).

  • Push the EJECT button and remove the software disk.

  • Put the ON/OFF switch in the OFF position.
On the PDL:
  • The ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
2.On the MCDU:
On the MCDU display:
  • Push the MCDU MENU mode key.
  • The AIDS prompt must show.

NOTE: You can monitor the upload procedure of the database files on the AIDS SOFTWARE LOAD STATUS page.
