Installation of the Eye-End of the RAT Actuator

3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) is in position.
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Blue hydraulic system.
  • In the cockpit on the hydraulic section 40VU of the overhead panel
  • On the ground service panel of the Blue hydraulic system.
   (3) Make sure that the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
   (4) Make sure that the reservoir of the Blue hydraulic system is depressurized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (5) Make sure that the RAT is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 29-22-00-869-005).

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-22-53-420-059-B
A. Installation of the Eye-End of the RAT Actuator
   (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (4) Apply the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the thread of the eye-end (4).
   (5) Assemble the nut (3) and the locking device (2) on the eye-end (4).
   (6) Install the eye-end (4) in the RAT actuator (1).
   (7) Turn the eye-end (4) until the distance "Y" is the same as you recorded during the removal procedure.
   (8) Tighten the nut (3) and make sure that the serrations of the locking device (2) engage correctly.
   (9) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 8.81 and 8.13 m.daN (64.97 and 59.96 lbf.ft ) T.
   (10) Safety the nut (3) and the locking device (2) with the lockwire, 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (11) Put the eye-end (4) in its correct position at the leg assembly (5).
   (12) Install the bolt (6), the washers (7), (8) and the nut (9).
   (13) TORQUE the nut (9) to between 5.29 and 4.74 m.daN (39.01 and 34.96 lbf.ft )

A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
