Installation of the Lower Case-Drain Hose of Engine 2


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-49-860-072-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that the fan-cowl door 447AL is open

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the hydraulic hose connection to the hydraulic filter module to catch the remaining fluid.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-49-420-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Lower Case-Drain Hose-Assembly
   (1) Remove the protective covers from the lower case-drain hose (2), the hydraulic filter assembly and the union on the hydraulic pump.
   (2) Connect the lower case-drain hose (2) to the union (1) of hydraulic pump.
   (3) TORQUE the coupling nut of the lower case-drain hose (2) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
     (a) Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the union (1) when you torque the coupling nut.

   (4) Connect the lower case-drain hose (2) to the union (1) on the hydraulic filter.
   (5) TORQUE the coupling nut of the lower case-drain hose (2) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
     (a) Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the union (1) when you torque the coupling nuts.

   (6) Connect the lower case-drain hose (2) to the elbow (1) on the hydraulic filter.
   (7) TORQUE the coupling nut of the lower case-drain hose (2) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
     (a) Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the elbow (1) when you torque the coupling nut.

   (8) Connect the lower case-drain hose (2) to the elbow (1) on the hydraulic filter.
     (a) Install the lower case-drain hose (2) with an angle of 15 degrees (plus or minus 2) from the front of the hydraulic filter.
     (b) Make sure that there is no friction between the lower case-drain hose (2) and engine equipment (see detail B).
   (9) TORQUE the coupling nut of the lower case-drain hose (2) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
     (a) Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the elbow (1) when you torque the coupling nut.

   (10) Install the center mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (5), washer (6), and nut (7) from the band (3) on the center mount clamp.
     (b) Open the band (3) on the center mount clamp and put the lower case-drain hose (2) into the hole of the insert (4).
     (c) Put the band (3) on the insert (4) and install the bolt (5), washer (6), and nut (7).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.

   (11) Install the center mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (5), washer (6), and nut (7) from the band (3) on the center mount clamp.
     (b) Open the band (3) on the center mount clamp and put the lower case-drain hose (2) into the hole of the insert (4).
     (c) Put the band (3) on the insert (4) and install the bolt (5), washer (6), and nut (7).
     (d) Make sure that the center mount clamp is installed at a distance of 15 in. (0.38 m) below the clamp of the suction hose/tube.
       1 Measure the distance from the top of the clamp to the centerline of the center mount clamp.
     (e) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.

   (12) Install the center mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (5), washer (6), and nut (7) from the band (3) on the center mount clamp.
     (b) Open the band (3) on the center mount clamp and put the lower case-drain hose (2) into the hole of the insert (4).
     (c) Put the band (3) on the insert (4) and install the bolt (5), washer (6), and nut (7).
     (d) Make sure that the center mount clamp is installed at a distance of 14 in. (0.36 m) below the clamp of the suction hose/tube.
       1 Measure the distance from the top of the clamp to the centerline of the center mount clamp.
     (e) Turn the center mount clamp to keep a minimum clearance of 0.6 in. (15.24 mm) to 0.8 in. (20.32 mm) between the center mount clamp and the oil module (see detail C).
       1 If necessary, turn the center mount clamp to make that there is no friction between the hoses and the engine lube-oil module.
     (f) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.

B. Installation of the P-Clamps

POST SB RA 32029-10

   (1) Install the P-clamps (8), (9) and (10) on the hydraulic hose (2), the suction hose/tube and pressure hose/tube.
   (2) Make sure that the P-clamps are installed 16.0 in. (0.4064 m) down from the top of the next higher clamp.
NOTE: Make sure there is a 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) gap between the hose and the oil filter module.
   (3) Install the bolt (11), washer (12), and nut (13).
   (4) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Do a play check to make sure that there is sufficient clearance between the fan cowl and the hydraulic lines. If there is not sufficient clearance, adjust the hydraulic lines as required.

Subtask 29-13-49-710-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Operational Test
   (1) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (2) Do an operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002).
   (3) During the dry motoring, make sure that there are no leaks from the connections.
   (4) Make sure that the level of the hydraulic fluid in the Yellow reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-49-410-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close the left fan-cowl door 447AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
   (5) Close the door 195BB.
