Installation of the Pressure Relief Valve Hose/Tube


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-49-860-080-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (2) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.
   (5) Make sure that an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that the fan-cowl door 447AL is open.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the higher pressure relief valve hose/tube (25) to collect the remaining fluid.

4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-49-420-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Pressure Relief Valve Hose/Tube
   (1) Remove the protective covers from the higher pressure-relief valve hose/tube (25), lower pressure-relief valve tube (30) and pressure-relief valve interface.
   (2) Loosely connect the higher pressure-relief valve hose/tube (25) to the lower pressure-relief valve tube (30).
   (3) Loosely connect the higher pressure-relief valve hose/tube (25) to the pressure-relief valve interface.
   (4) Attach the higher pressure-relief valve hose/tube (25) to the engine brackets at the flange STA.199(A2). Install the bolts (5), washers (10), nuts (15) and clamps (20) (3 positions).
   (5) Make sure that the higher pressure-relief valve hose/tube (25) is in the correct position on the engine.
   (6) TORQUE the coupling nuts on the higher pressure-relief valve hose/tube (25) to between 1.64 and 1.53 m.daN (12.09 and 11.28 lbf.ft ) T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the lower pressure-relief valve hose/tube and the pressure-relief valve interface fitting when you TORQUE the coupling nuts.
   (7) TORQUE the nuts (15) to between 0.28 and 0.23 m.daN (24.78 and 20.35 lbf.in )
T.
   (8) Remove the protective covers from the lower pressure-relief valve tube (30), the fitting on the top case drain hose/tube and the higher pressure-relief valve hose/tube (25).
   (9) If not done before, loosely connect the lower pressure relief valve tube (30) to the higher pressure relief valve hose/tube (25).
   (10) Loosely connect the lower pressure-relief valve tube (30) to the fitting on the top case drain hose/tube.
   (11) Attach the lower pressure-relief valve tube (30) to the engine bracket at the flange STA.199(A2). Install the bolt (5), washer (10), nut (15) and clamp (20).
   (12) Attach the lower pressure-relief valve tube (30) to the engine bracket at the flange STA.185(B5). Install the bolt (5), washer (10), nut (15) and clamp (20).
   (13) Make sure that the lower pressure-relief valve tube (30) is in the correct position on the engine.
   (14) If not done before, TORQUE the coupling nut on the higher pressure relief valve to between 1.82 and 1.70 m.daN (13.42 and 12.54 lbf.ft )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the lower pressure-relief valve tube when you TORQUE the coupling nut on the higher pressure-relief valve tube.
   (15) TORQUE the coupling nut on the lower pressure-relief valve tube (30) to between 1.13 and 0.96 m.daN (100.00 and 84.96 lbf.in )
T.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the fitting on the top case drain tube when you TORQUE the coupling nut on the lower pressure-relief valve tube.
   (16) TORQUE the nuts (15) to between 0.28 and 0.23 m.daN (24.78 and 20.35 lbf.in )

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

Subtask 29-13-49-710-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Operational Test
   (1) Pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-002).
   (2) Do an operational test of the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-00-710-002).
   (3) During the dry motoring of the engine 2, make sure that there are no leaks from the suction hose/tube.
   (4) Make sure that the level of the hydraulic fluid in the Yellow reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-002).
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-49-410-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the container.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (5) Close the left fan-cowl door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
close the door 447AL.
   (6) Close the door 195BB.
