Installation of Engine 1 Case-Drain Lower Hose


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-11-49-860-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Green hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 197CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic reservoir.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the suction-hose adapter connection to the hydraulic pump.

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the left fan-cowl door is open:
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
make sure that the door 437AL is open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-49-420-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Lower Case Drain Hose Assembly
   (1) Remove the protective covers from the lower case drain hose (15), the hydraulic filter assembly and the union in the hydraulic pump.
   (2) Connect the lower case drain hose (15) to the hydraulic pump union.
   (3) TORQUE the lower case drain hose (15) coupling nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the union when you torque the coupling nut.

   (4) Connect the lower case drain hose (15) to the union on the hydraulic filter.
   (5) TORQUE the lower case drain hose (15) coupling nuts to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the union when you torque the coupling nut.

   (6) Connect the lower case drain hose (15) to the elbow (10) on the hydraulic filter.
   (7) TORQUE the lower case drain hose (5) coupling nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the elbow when you torque the coupling nut.

   (8) Connect the lower case drain hose (15) to the elbow (10) on the hydraulic filter.
NOTE: To make sure the hose will not rub on engine equipment, install the hose with a 13 to 17 degree angle from the front face of the hydraulic filter. (see detail B).
   (9) TORQUE the lower case drain hose (15) coupling nut to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN ) T
NOTE: Use a second WRENCH - TORQUE to hold the elbow when you torque the coupling nut.

   (10) Install the center-mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (30), the washer (35), and the nut (40) from the band (20) on the center-mount clamp.
     (b) Open the band (20) on the center-mount clamp and put the lower case drain hose (15) into the hole in the insert (25).
     (c) Put the band (20) on the insert (25) and install the bolt (30), the washer (35), and the nut (40).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (40) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.

   (11) Install the center-mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (30), the washer (35), and the nut (40) from the band (20) on the center-mount clamp.
     (b) Open the band (20) on the center-mount clamp and put the lower case drain hose (15) into the hole in the insert (25).
     (c) Put the band (20) on the insert (25) and install the bolt (30), the washer (35), and the nut (40).
     (d) Make sure that the center-mount clamp is installed a distance of 15 in.(0.38 m) below the clamp of the suction hose/tube.
NOTE: Measure the distance from the top of the clamp to the centerline of the center-mount clamp.
     (e) TORQUE the nut (40) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.

   (12) Install the center-mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (30), the washer (35), and the nut (40) from the band (20) on the center-mount clamp.
     (b) Open the band (20) on the center-mount clamp and put the lower case drain hose (15) into the hole in the insert (25).
     (c) Put the band (20) on the insert (25) and install the bolt (30), the washer (35), and the nut (40).
     (d) Make sure that the center-mount clamp is installed a distance of 14 in. (0.36 m) below the clamp of the suction hose/tube.
NOTE: Measure the distance from the top of the clamp to the centerline of the center-mount clamp.
     (e) Turn the center-mount clamp to keep a minimum clearance of 0.6 in. (15.24 mm) to 0.8 in. (20.32 mm) between the center-mount clamp and the oil module. (see detail C).
NOTE: It is necessary to turn the center-mount clamp to prevent the hoses from rubbing on the engine lube oil module.
     (f) TORQUE the nut (40) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.

   (13) Install the P-clamps, as follows:
     (a) Install the P-clamps (45), (50) and (55) on the case-drain lower hose (15), the suction hose/tube and pressure hose/tube.
     (b) Make sure that the P-clamps are installed 16.0 in. (0.4064 m) down from the top of the next higher clamp.
NOTE: Make sure there is a 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) gap between the hose and the oil filter module.
     (c) Install the bolt (60), washer (65) and nut (70).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (70) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Do a play check to make sure that there is sufficient clearance between the fan cowl and the hydraulic lines. If there is not sufficient clearance, adjust the hydraulic lines as required.

B. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the Green hydraulic system (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-00-710-001)
   (2) During the dry motoring, make sure that there are no leaks from the connections.
   (3) Make sure that the level of the hydraulic fluid in the Green reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Close Access
   (1) Close the left fan-cowl door:
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
Close the door 437AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
   (2) Close the door 195BB.
