Installation of the Engine 1 Hydraulic Suction-Hose


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-11-49-860-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Green hydraulic system is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Green hydraulic reservoir is depressurized (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 197CB.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic reservoir.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Green hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Make sure that a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) is below the suction-hose adapter connection to the hydraulic pump.

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the left fan-cowl door is open:
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
make sure that the door 437AL is open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-49-420-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Hydraulic Suction Hose/Tube Assembly

PRE SB RA32029-7
   (1) Remove the protective covers from the ends of the suction hose/tube (20), the fluid disconnect panel, and the union in the hydraulic pump.
   (2) Connect the coupling half (50) to the fluid disconnect panel and tighten the coupling nut by hand.
   (3) TORQUE the coupling half to between 10.17 and 9.04 m.daN (75.00 and 66.67 lbf.ft ) T.
   (4) Connect the adapter assembly (15) at the lower end of the tube/hose (20) to the hydraulic pump.
   (5) Put the clamp (65) on the tube/hose (20). Attach the clamp to the upper support bracket with the screw (60) and the washer (55). Do not torque the screw at this time.
   (6) Put the clamps (10) on the tube/hose (20) (Two locations).
Attach the clamps to the upper, upper mid and lower mid support brackets with the screws (5) and washers (55). Do not torque the screws at this time.
   (7) Put the clamp (10) on the tube/hose (20). Attach the clamp to the filter support bracket with the screw (5). Do not torque the screw at this time.
   (8) Install the center-mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (35), the washer (40), and the nut (45) from the band on the clamp (25).
     (b) Open the band (25) on the center-mount clamp and put the suction hose/tube (20) into its hole in the insert (30).
     (c) Put the band (25) on the insert (30) and install the bolt (35), the washer (40), and the nut (45).
     (d) Make sure that the center mount clamp is installed a distance of 15.0 in. (0.3810 m) below the clamp on the suction hose/tube.
NOTE: Measure the distance from the top of the clamp to the centerline of the center-mount clamp.
     (e) TORQUE the nut (45) to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN ) T.
   (9) Make sure that the suction hose/tube (20) is in the correct position on the engine.
   (10) Connect the adapter assembly (15) on the suction hose/tube (20) to the union in the hydraulic pump.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the union on the hydraulic pump when you torque the adapter assembly.
   (11) TORQUE the adapter assembly (15) to between 900 and 800 lbf.in (10.17 and 9.04 m.daN )
T.
   (12) Torque the screw on the support bracket.
CAUTION: YOU MUST TORQUE THE BOLTS IN THE SEQUENCE GIVEN. IF YOU DO NOT TORQUE THE BOLTS IN SEQUENCE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SUCTION HOSE/TUBE ASSEMBLY.
     (a) TORQUE the screw (5) on the filter support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T.
     (b) TORQUE the screw (60) on the upper support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )

     (c) TORQUE the screw (5) on the lower mid support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )

     (d) TORQUE the screw (5) on the upper mid support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )

B. Installation of the Hydraulic Suction Hose/Tube Assembly

POST SB RA32029-7

   (1) Remove the protective covers from the ends of the suction hose/tube (15), the fluid disconnect panel, and the union in the hydraulic pump.
   (2) Connect the coupling half (50) to the fluid disconnect panel and tighten the coupling nut by hand.
   (3) TORQUE the coupling half to between 10.17 and 9.04 m.daN (75.00 and 66.67 lbf.ft )
T.
   (4) Connect the adapter assembly (15) at the lower end of the tube/hose (20) to the hydraulic pump.
   (5) Put the clamp (65) on the tube/hose (20). Attach the clamp to the upper support bracket with the screw (60) and the washer (55). Do not torque the screw at this time.
   (6) Put the clamps (10) on the tube/hose (20) (Two locations).
Attach the clamps to the upper, upper mid and lower mid support brackets with the screws (5) and washers (55). Do not torque the screws at this time.
   (7) Put the clamp (10) on the tube/hose (20). Attach the clamp to the filter support bracket with the screw (5). Do not torque the screw at this time.

PRE SB RA32029-10

   (8) Install the center-mount clamp, as follows:
     (a) Remove the bolt (35), the washer (40), and the nut (45) from the band (25) on the clamp.
     (b) Open the band (25) on the center-mount clamp and put the suction hose/tube (20) into its hole in the insert (30).
     (c) Put the band (25) on the insert (30) and install the bolt (35), the washer (40), and the nut (45).
     (d) Make sure that the center-mount clamp is installed a distance of 14.0 in. (0.3556 m) below the clamp of the suction hose/tube.
NOTE: Measure the distance from the top of the clamp to the centerline of the center mount clamp.
     (e) Turn the center-mount clamp to keep a minimum clearance of 0.6 in. (15.2400 mm) to 0.8 in. (20.3200 mm) between the center mount clamp and the oil module. (see detail B).
NOTE: It is necessary to turn the center-mount clamp to prevent the hoses from rubbing on the engine lube oil module.
     (f) TORQUE the nut (45) to between 70 and 60 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.68 m.daN ) T.

POST SB RA32029-10

   (9) Install the P-clamps, as follows:
     (a) Install the P-clamps (70), (75) and (80) on the suction hose/tube (20), the pressure hose and lower case drain hose.
     (b) Make sure that the P-clamps are installed 16.0 in. (0.4064 m) down from the top of the next higher clamp.
NOTE: Make sure there is a 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) gap between the hose and the oil filter module.
     (c) Install the bolt (85), washer (90) and nut (95).
     (d) TORQUE the nut (95) to between 35 and 30 lbf.in (0.40 and 0.34 m.daN ) T.
     (e) Do a play check to make sure that there is sufficient clearance between the fan cowl and the hydraulic lines. If there is not sufficient clearance, adjust the hydraulic lines as required.

   (10) Make sure that the suction hose/tube (20) is in the correct position on the engine.
   (11) Connect the adapter assembly (15) on the suction hose/tube (20) to the union in the hydraulic pump.
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the union on the hydraulic pump when you torque the adapter assembly.
   (12) TORQUE the adapter assembly (15) to between 900 and 800 lbf.in (10.17 and 9.04 m.daN )
T.
   (13) Torque the screw on the support bracket.
CAUTION: YOU MUST TORQUE THE BOLTS IN THE SEQUENCE GIVEN. IF YOU DO NOT TORQUE THE BOLTS IN SEQUENCE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SUCTION HOSE/TUBE ASSEMBLY.
     (a) TORQUE the screw (5) on the filter support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )

     (b) TORQUE the screw (60) on the upper support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )
T.
     (c) TORQUE the screw (5) on the lower mid support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )

     (d) TORQUE the screw (5) on the upper mid support bracket to between 25 and 20 lbf.in (0.28 and 0.23 m.daN )

D. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the Green hydraulic system (
Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-00-710-001)
   (2) During the dry motoring of the engine 1, make sure that there is no leaks from the suction-hose.
   (3) Make sure that the level of the hydraulic fluid in the Green reservoir is correct. If necessary, fill the reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 12-12-29-611-001).
NOTE: There must be between 14 and 16 liters of hydraulic fluid in the Green reservoir. This prevents a drop in the level of the fluid if the bleeding is not correct.

E. Do the hydraulic maintenance procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-51-860-001).

   (1) Remove the container and the absorbent material.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Close Access
   (1) Close the left-fan cowl door:
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
Close the door 437AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
   (2) Close the door 195BB.

C. Remove the Safety Precautions
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
