WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic systems.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to operate the flight controls is in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
   (2) Make sure that spoiler 3 is extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is on the piston rod of the servo-control.
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is below the applicable access panel:
  • for the left wing: 575DB
  • for the right wing: 675DB.
   (5) Make sure that the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-004) is removed:
  • for the left wing: 575DB
  • for the right wing: 675DB.

4. Procedure
Subtask 27-64-43-420-053-B
A. Preparation for Installation
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Apply Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) to the:
  • hinges on the rear spar,
  • hinges on the spoiler,
  • sliding bush (19),
  • hinge pin (28).

B. Installation of the Link-Spoiler 3
   (1) Put the bushes (1) and (17) and the end of the links-spoiler 3 (2) and (18) in position on the spoiler brackets.
   (2) Install the bushes (8) and (13) and the bolts (7) and (12).
   (3) Install the washers (9) and (14) and the nuts (10) and (15).
   (4) TORQUE the nuts (10) and (15) to between 1.36 and 1.13 m.daN (120.35 and 100.00 lbf.in ) T.
   (5) Safety the nut (10) with the new
AIPC 57-73-21-01-190 COTTER PIN (11) or AIPC 57-73-85-01-190 COTTER PIN (11) and the nut (15) with the new AIPC 57-73-21-01-190 COTTER PIN (16) or AIPC 57-73-85-01-190 COTTER PIN (16).
   (6) Put the links-spoiler 3 (2) and (18) and the sliding bush (19) in position through the rear spar fittings and the spoiler fittings.
   (7) Install the hinge pin (28) through the rear spar fittings.
   (8) Install the washers (3) and (20) and the nuts (4) and (21).
   (9) TORQUE the nuts (4) and (21) to between 4.0 and 3.5 m.daN (29.50 and 25.81 lbf.ft )
T.
   (10) Install the locking caps (5) and (22) on the nuts (4) and (21).
   (11) Safety the locking cap (5) with the new
AIPC 27-64-05-13-170 COTTER PIN (6) or AIPC 27-64-85-13-190 COTTER PIN (6) and the locking cap (22) with the new AIPC 27-64-05-13-090 COTTER PIN (23) or AIPC 27-64-85-13-120 COTTER PIN (23).
   (12) Clean the interfaces of the bolt (24) and the spacer (25) with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (13) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to the interfaces of the bolt (24) and the spacer (25).
   (14) Install the bolt (24).
   (15) Install the spacer (25), the locking plate (27) and the nut (26).
   (16) TORQUE the nut (26) to between 0.30 and 0.25 m.daN (26.55 and 22.12 lbf.in ) T.

D. Application of Special Materials

   (1) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) to:
  • the cotter pins (6) and (23),
  • the locking caps (5) and (22),
  • the nuts (4) and (21),
  • the washers (3) and (20),
  • the hinge pin (28),
  • the nut (26),
  • the bolt (24).

   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-400-004):
  • for the left wing, install 575DB
  • for the right wing, install 675DB.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):
