Readout of the Flap Position Pickoff Unit (PPU) Data

TASK 27-50-00-860-801-A
Readout of the Flap Position Pickoff Unit (PPU) Data

ZONE: 210
1. Reason for the Job
This readout and check of the Position Pickoff Unit (PPU) Data during a maintenance action makes sure that the flap transmission system is in the correct position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 27-50-00-740-050-A
A. Readout of the Flap PPUs Data on the Centralized Fault Display System (CFDS) (before maintenance action)
NOTE: Airbus recommends to do the readout and recording of the PPU angles before the maintenance action.
In case of a loss of the torque shaft fixture you can put the transmission system back to the initial condition (without a complete re-rigging of the system).
   (1) Get access to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST (F/CTL) page on the Multipurpose Control Display Unit (MCDU) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-006).
   (2) Do the readout of the flap PPU angles (degrees) on the MCDU as follows:
NOTE: You can do this readout in all flap positions (fully retracted or extended position).
ACTION
RESULT
On the MCDU:
1.Push the line key adjacent to the < SFCC 1 indication.
On the MCDU display:
  • Page 1 of the SFCC 1 menu comes into view.
2.Push the NEXT PAGE button.
  • Page 2 of the SFCC 1 menu comes into view.
3.Push the line key adjacent to the SYSTEM DATA FLP > indication.
  • The FLAP SYSTEM DATA submenu comes into view.
4.Push the line key adjacent to the line key adjacent to the < PPU indication.
  • The PPU DATA page comes into view.
5.Record the LH and RH Asymmetry Position Pick-off Unit (APPU) and the Feedback Position Pick-off Unit (FPPU) angles (degrees) or push (in) the line key adjacent to PRINT > to get a print out of the screen.
NOTE: In case of a loss of the torque shaft fixture you can put the transmission system back to the initial condition (without a complete re-rigging of the system).

6.Push the line key adjacent to < RETURN frequently until the CFDS menu page is shown.

   (3) After the readout: Go back to your maintenance procedure and continue with the next steps.
Subtask 27-50-00-740-051-A
B. Check of the Flap PPUs on the CFDS (after maintenance action)
   (1) Get access to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST (F/CTL) page on the Multipurpose Control Display Unit (MCDU) (Ref. AMM TASK 31-32-00-860-006).
   (2) Do a check of the flap PPU angles (degrees) on the MCDU as follows:
NOTE: You can do this readout (check) in all flap positions (fully retracted or extended position).
ACTION
5.Record the LH and RH APPU and the FPPU angles (degrees) or push (in) the line key adjacent to PRINT > to get a print out of the screen.
  • If the flaps are in fully retracted position:
Make sure that the LH APPU and the FPPU angles are within a range of +/- 0.9 deg.
Make sure that the RH APPU and the FPPU angles are within a range of +/- 0.9 deg.
Make sure that the LH APPU and the RH APPU angles are within a range of +/- 0.7 deg.
  • If the flaps are in extended position:
Make sure that the LH APPU and the FPPU angles are within a range of +/- 1.3 deg.
Make sure that the RH APPU and the FPPU angles are within a range of +/- 1.3 deg.
Make sure that the LH APPU and the RH APPU angles are within a range of +/- 0.7 deg.
6.Push the line key adjacent to < RETURN frequently until the CFDS menu page is shown.

   (3) After the check of the PPU data: Go back to your maintenance procedure and continue with the next steps.
