3. Job Set-up
Subtask 26-21-49-941-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the ENG section of the maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (4) On the AIR COND panel 30VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG 1(2) BLEED pushbutton switch is released.
     (b) Make sure that the APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the pneumatic system.
   (5) In the cockpit, on the HP ground connector:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system.

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
   (3) Remove the access panels:
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (4) Remove the access panels:
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (5) Remove the apron assemblies (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-000-001).

F. Initial Measurement
F Installation of the Shim. ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Remove the bolts (4) and the washers (3).
   (2) Measure the distance A between the bracket assy (2) and the cross beam (5).
NOTE: Make sure that the holes of the bracket assy and the cross beam are aligned.
     (a) If the distance A is equal to zero, no maintenance action is necessary. Install the washers (3), the bolts (4) and tighten them.
     (b) If the distance A is different from zero, do the procedure that follows.

G. Fabrication of the Shim
F Fabrication of the Shim. ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Use Material Z10CNT1810 or equivalent (AISI 321) to make the shim.
NOTE: Make sure that the thickness of the shim is equal to the distance A.
NOTE: 5 mm (0.196 in.) is the maximum permitted thickness.

H. Preparation of the Shim
WARNING: WHEN YOU USE COMPRESSED AIR:
  • USE THE CORRECT PROTECTION (FACE SHIELD OR GOGGLES)
  • DO NOT POINT THE AIRFLOW AT YOURSELF OR OTHER PERSONS.
LOOSE PARTICLES AND/OR HIGH PRESSURE AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY.
WARNING: DO NOT LET COMPRESSED GAS TOUCH YOUR SKIN. THE GAS CAN GO THROUGH THE SKIN AND MAKE BUBBLES IN THE BLOOD. THIS CONDITION CAN KILL YOU.
   (1) Immerse the shim in a solution of:
  • Surface Pretreatment-Immersion use Nitric Acid Technical - (Material No.10AGB1) 250 ml/l (57.64 cu.in/US gal)
  • Surface Pretreatment-Immersion use Sodium Dichromate - (Material No.10AGC1) 25 g/l (3.32 oz/US gal)
  • de-ionized water 750 ml/l (172.93 cu.in/US gal).
NOTE: Make sure that the solution is between 45 deg.C (113.00 deg.F) and 55 deg.C (131.00 deg.F).
   (2) Remove the shim from the solution after 20 to 40 minutes.
   (3) Flush the shim with cold water.
   (4) Flush the shim with hot water then dry it with compressed air.
4. Procedure

   (1) Put the shim (6) in position between the bracket assy (2) and the cross beam (5).
   (2) Install the washers (3) and the bolts (4).
   (3) Tighten the bolts (4).
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the apron assemblies (Ref. AMM TASK 54-57-22-400-001).
   (3) Install the access panels:

     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
425BL 425AL.
   (4) Install the access panels:
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (5) Install the left half door of the thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
