A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

F. Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

G. Depressurize the hydraulic systems:
(1) For engine 1 depressurize the Green hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
(2) For engine 2 depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
(3) Install a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the Green and Yellow system ground service panels not to use them.

H. Remove left or right fan cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-000-040).

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-11-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Disconnect the Hydraulic and Electrical Connections
(1) Disconnect the interface hydraulic hoses from the left or right half door:
(a) for engine 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 29-11-49-000-045).
(b) for engine 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 29-13-49-000-045).
(2) Install PLUG - BLANKING on nipples.

Hydraulic Storage Caps ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(3) For the right side only disconnect the hydraulic supply hose from the HCU.
(4) Disconnect the right electrical harness from the left electrical junction box.

Thrust Reverser Electrical Harness ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(5) Disconnect the pylon electrical harness from the junction box and/or from the hydraulic control unit.
(6) Put CAP - BLANKING on the electrical connectors.

B. Remove the hinge access panel (5) as follows:

(1) Remove the 13 screws (10) from access panel (5).
(2) Remove the panel (5).

C. Put the HIX1001 SLING,HANDLING on the half door as follows:

CAUTION: THE STOPS ON THE SCREWS MUST TOUCH THE 12 O'CLOCK BEAM. IF THE SCREWS ON THE LIFTING BEAM ARE NOT FULLY IN THE HOIST POINT, THE HALF DOOR COULD FALL. IF THE HALF DOOR FALLS IT CAN BE DAMAGED.

(1) Remove and keep the hoist plugs from the two upper hoist points.
(2) Install the handling sling on the two upper hoist points of the half door.
(3) Remove and keep the hoist plug from the lower hoist point on the middle lower fitting of the half door.
(4) Install the STRAP - LIFTING to the lower hoist point on the middle lower fitting. Hook the other end of the lifting strap to the hook on the winch above.
(5) Apply lubricant to the hinge bolts and nuts to make them easier to remove

Thrust Reverser Hinge Pins Access ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(a) Spray Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Oily Film System (Material No.12ABE2) to the hing pins and nut, 3 places.
(b) Allow the lubricant to go into the nuts and bolts to loosen and make them easier to remove.

D. Open the Half Doors
(1) Open the right and left half doors to the 33 or 35 degree position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040).

E. Protect the Engine Parts

WARNING: YOU MUST HOLD EACH HALF DOOR OPENED WITH THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY DUE TO ACCIDENTAL CLOSURE.

CAUTION: PROTECT THE ENGINE PARTS MADE OF TITANIUM OR TITANIUM ALLOYS FROM CONTACT WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS CORROSIVE AND CAUSES DAMAGE TO TITANIUM.

(1) Cover the compressor cases of the core engine with a COVER - PROTECTION. This makes sure that hydraulic fluid does not drop on compressor cases.

F. Remove the Door-opening Actuators
(1) Remove the left or right door-opening actuators (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-51-000-040).
(2) Install PLUG - BLANKING on the hydraulic pipe.

(3) Use the handling sling (HIX-1001) to keep half door in position.
(4) Put the hold-open rod in closed position.

(a) Remove quick release pin from attachment bracket on half door.
(b) Attach the hold-open rod to the bracket on the adapter ring assembly with the quick release pin.
(5) Put the half door to the 10 degree position.
(6) Remove the three hinge pins (15) which attach the half door as follows:

(a) Remove and discard the cotter pin (30).
(b) Remove the nuts (25) and the washers (20).
(c) Remove the hinge pins (15) with a DRIFT - COPPER, SOFT.

G. Remove

CAUTION: MAKE SURE HALF DOOR IS NOT DAMAGED WHEN REMOVED.

CAUTION: THE HALF DOOR WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 440 POUNDS (200 KG). MAKE SURE THAT THE CRANE CAN LIFT 440 POUNDS (200 KG). HOWEVER, THE FORCE USED TO LIFT THE HALF DOOR SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 661 POUNDS (300 KG). IF THE LIFTING FORCE IS TOO MUCH THE SCREWS IN THE LIFTING BEAM CAN BREAK AND THE HALF DOOR WILL FALL AND BE DAMAGE.

(1) Remove thrust reverser half door.

H. Install the Thrust Reverser Half Door on the Workstand
(1) Install thrust reverser half door on the HIX3001 WORKSTAND-MOBILE as follows:

Removal/Installation of Thrust Reverser Half Door on Mobile Workstand ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(a) Remove the two hinges from the mobile workstand.
(b) Put the half door to the 45 degree position with the handling sling.
(c) Put the reverser in a position so that hinges are in line with the hinges of the mobile workstand.
(d) Install the hinge pins of the mobile workstand and attach with cotter pins.
(2) Remove the handling sling from the half door

(a) Remove the lifting strap from the hoist point on the middle lower fitting of the half door.
(b) Remove the handling sling from the two upper hoist points of the half door and install the hoist plugs.
(3) Install the STRAP - ATTACHMENT to the hoist point on the middle lower fitting of the half door.
