Cold Weather Maintenance - Parking at very low outside temperatures - Communications


1. Reason for the Job
This procedure gives the cold weather maintenance practices for the Cabin Intercommunication Data System (CIDS). This procedure describes the handling of the CIDS equipment during storage of an aircraft under these conditions:
  • at temperatures of -20 deg.C (or below)
  • with no electrical supply
  • with no air supply.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 12-31-23-860-051-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).
   (2) Make sure that the Cabin Intercommunication Data System (CIDS) is de- energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-00-862-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 12-31-23-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) If it is possible that the temperature in the related areas will be less than -40 deg.C (-40 deg.F), remove the equipment that follows:
     (a) Remove the Forward Attendant Panel (FAP) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-12-000-002).
     (b) Remove the Aft Attendant Panel(s) (AAP) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-13-000-001).
     (c) Remove the Programming and Test Panel (PTP) with the Cabin Assignment Module (CAM) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-18-000-001).
NOTE: The CAM can stay installed in the PTP.
     (d) Remove all Attendant Indication Panels (AIP) from the Passenger compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-22-000-001).

B. Storage Conditions for Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the storage temperature of the removed equipment will not be less than -40 deg.C (-40 deg.F).
Subtask 12-31-23-020-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) If it is possible that the temperature in the related areas will be less than -20 deg.C (-4 deg.F), remove the equipment that follows:
     (a) Remove the Flight Attendant Panel (FAP) with the installed memory card modules (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-12-000-007).
NOTE: These memory card modules can stay installed in the FAP:
  • Cabin Assignment Module (CAM)
  • On-board replaceable Module (OBRM)
  • Integrated PRAM Flashcard, if installed.
     (b) Remove the Additional Attendant Panel(s) (AAP) (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-13-000-001).
     (c) Remove all Attendant Indication Panels (AIP) from the Passenger compartment (Ref. AMM TASK 23-73-22-000-001).

D. Storage Conditions for Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the storage temperature of the removed equipment will not be less than -20 deg.C (-4 deg.F).

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
