Installation of the Scavenge Oil Pump
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
CAUTION:
THE NEW TURBINE INNER STAGE 6 AIR SEAL PART THAT WAS RELEASED BY SERVICE BULLETINS 72-0626 & SB 72-0567 REQUIRES POST SB 79-0093 OIL SCAVENGE PUMP. THEREFORE, BEFORE INSTALLING THE OIL SCAVENGE PUMP, FIND OUT THE CONFIGURATION OF THE TURBINE INNER STAGE 6 AIR SEAL.
THIS CAN BE DONE BY CHECKING LPT MODULE PART NUMBER LOCATED ON THE LPT CASE. IF LPT MODULE PART NUMBER IS FOUND TO BE 4W5224 (OR) 4W5225 (OR) 4W5527 (OR) 4W5222, THEN THE OIL SCAVENGE PUMP MUST BE REPLACED WITH POST SB 79-0093 PUMP. IF THIS REQUIREMENT IS NOT COMPLIED WITH, PRE SB 79-0093 SCAVENGE PUMP WILL NOT SCAVENGE OIL AT THE DESIGNED FLOW RATE FROM THE NO.5 BEARING COMPARTMENT AND COULD RESULT IN A POTENTIAL ENGINE TAIL PIPE FIRE OR SMOKE.
