Installation of the Lubrication Unit

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

4. Procedure
Subtask 79-21-05-420-053-A
A. Installation of the Lubrication Unit
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE THE LUBRICATION UNIT. THE LUBRICATION UNIT WEIGHS 28.4 LBS (12.9 KG). INJURIES TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE TUBES DO NOT TWIST WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE CONNECTIONS. USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE TUBE. IF THE TUBES TWIST, DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO THEM.
   (1) Remove all the CAP - PROTECTION and COVER - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (3) Install the 956A7618 FIXTURE, REMOVE /INSTALL - LUBRICATION UNIT on the 956A7649 JACK, REMOVE/INSTALL - BOTTOM LRU.
   (4) Install the 956A7618 FIXTURE, REMOVE /INSTALL - LUBRICATION UNIT on the lubrication unit (1).
   (5) Lubricate the threads of the seven bolts (28) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (6) Lubricate the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-220 O-RING (30), the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-210 O-RING (31) and the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-200 O-RING (33) with the vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
   (7) Install the new O-ring (33) on the groove of the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) scavenge inlet port.
   (8) Install the new O-ring (31) in the groove of the drive shaft (29).
NOTE: You can use the optional 956A7604G01 KIT, INSTALL - EQUIPMENTS O-RING, AGB (37) tool to install the O-ring (31) on the splined drive shaft (29) of the lubrication unit (1).
   (9) Install the new O-ring (30) in the groove of the lubrication unit (1).
   (10) Pull the splined sleeve (35) from the integrated drive generator spur (36) of the AGB (3).
   (11) Inspect the splined sleeve (35) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-12-210-801).
   (12) Lightly coat the splined sleeve (35) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL AN O-RING ON THE SPLINE SLEEVE. IF YOU DO, DAMAGE TO THE ACCESSORY GEARBOX (AGB) AND INTEGRATED DRIVE GENERATOR (IDG) CAN OCCUR.
   (13) Install the splined sleeve (35) on the drive shaft (29) and align the drive shaft (29) splines with the splined sleeve (35) splines.
NOTE: The groove without O-ring is the correct configuration.
   (14) Align the drive shaft (29) of the lubrication unit (1) and the splined sleeve (35) assembly with the splines of the AGB (3).
   (15) Push carefully drive shaft (29) of the lubrication unit (1) and the splined sleeve (35) assembly in the AGB (3).
   (16) Make sure that the mating flange of the lubrication unit (1) is fully engaged with the AGB input pad (32).
   (17) Install the seven washers (34) and the seven bolts (28) on the lubrication unit (1) and tighten them with your hand.
   (18) TORQUE the seven bolts (28) to between 120.7 and 109.3 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (19) Remove the
956A7618 FIXTURE, REMOVE /INSTALL - LUBRICATION UNIT from the lubrication unit (1).
   (20) Connection of the oil tube (25) to the lubrication unit (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (26) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
     (b) Lubricate the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-180 GASKET (27) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install the new gasket (27) and the oil tube (25) in the correct position on the lubrication unit (1).
     (d) Install the four bolts (26) on the oil tube (25) and tighten them with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the four bolts (26) to between 120.7 and 109.3 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (21) Connection of the oil tube (22) to the lubrication unit (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (23) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Lubricate the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-170 GASKET (24) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install the new gasket (24) and the oil tube (22) in the correct position on the lubrication unit (1).
     (d) Install the four bolts (23) on the oil tube (22) and tighten them with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the four bolts (23) to between 120.7 and 109.3 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (22) Connection of the oil tube (19) to the lubrication unit (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the three bolts (20) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Lubricate the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-160 GASKET (21) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install the new gasket (21) and the oil tube (19) in the correct position on the lubrication unit (1).
     (d) Install the three bolts (20) on the oil tube (19) and tighten them with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the three bolts (20) to between 120.7 and 109.3 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (23) Connection of the oil tube (17) to the lubrication unit (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the coupling nut (18) with the graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT: - THE OIL TUBE AND THE UNION ARE AXIALLY ALIGNED, AND - THERE IS NO STRESS ON THE OIL TUBE AFTER ITS INSTALLATION. INCORRECT ALIGNMENT OF THE OIL TUBE AND UNION, OR STRESS ON THE OIL TUBE CAN CAUSE OIL LEAKAGE.
     (b) Install the oil tube (17) in the correct position on the lubrication unit (1).
     (c) Tighten the coupling nut (18) on the oil tube (17) with your hand.
     (d) TORQUE the coupling nut (18) to between 770 and 650 lbf.in (8.70 and 7.35 m.daN ) T.
   (24) Connection of the oil tube (14) to the lubrication unit (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (15) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Lubricate the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-150 GASKET (16) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install the new gasket (16) and the oil tube (14) in the correct position on the lubrication unit (1).
     (d) Install the four bolts (15) on the oil tube (14) and tighten them with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the four bolts (15) to between 120.7 and 109.3 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (25) Connection of the oil tube (11) to the lubrication unit (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the three bolts (12) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Lubricate the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-140 GASKET (13) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install the new gasket (13) and the oil tube (11) in the correct position on the lubrication unit (1).
     (d) Install the bracket (7) in correct position on the oil tube (11).
     (e) Install the three bolts (12) on the oil tube (11) and tighten them with your hand.
     (f) TORQUE the three bolts (12) to between 120.7 and 109.3 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (26) Connection of the oil tube (8) to the lubrication unit (1):
     (a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (9) with graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) .
     (b) Lubricate the new EIPC 79-21-05-01-190 GASKET (10) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install the new gasket (10) and the oil tube (8) in the correct position on the lubrication unit (1).
     (d) Install the four bolts (9) on the oil tube (8) and tighten them with your hand.
     (e) TORQUE the four bolts (9) to between 120.7 and 109.3 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (27) Connection of the HJ3A electrical harness (4):
     (a) Install the bolt (5) that attaches the clamp (6) on the bracket (7) and tighten it with your hand.
     (b) TORQUE the bolt (5) to between 46.25 and 42.1 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.48 m.daN )
T.
   (28) Install the oil filter cartridge (
Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-05-400-803).
   (29) Install the oil filter differential pressure sensor (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 79-35-05-400-801).
   (30) Fill the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-805).

   (1) Do the idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-815).

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
