3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-79-941-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

D. Get access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-79-210-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection of the Pre-Cooler Duct Inlet
F Pre-Cooler Duct Cross Section ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Examine the pre-cooler duct inlet leading edge.
     (a) Erosion damage on the highlight leading edge.
NOTE: The highlight of the leading edge is comprised of 7 layers of laminated fabric. Each layer of fabric is approximately 0.014 in. (0.35 mm) thick.
       1 Less than or equal to 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) long and the number of damaged layers is less than or equal to 3 layers of laminated fabric or the remaining thickness of damage area is not less than 0.053 in. (1.35 mm) NSRM 543000 (VRS2324).
       2 Larger than (1). (a). 1 but less than 3.5 in. (89 mm) long and the number of damaged layers is less than or equal to 3 layers of laminated fabric NSRM 543000 (VRS2331).
NOTE: Erosion damage must be 1.5 in. (38 mm) away from the corner radius on either side (upper and lower) of the duct opening and must be within 1.5 in. (38 mm) from leading edge highlight ridge mid point (forward and aft).
     (b) Wear on Ceramic Coating.
       1 Any size but no damage to laminate NSRM 543000 (VRS2324 and VRS2331).
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

B. Activate the thrust reverser HCU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).

   (1) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
