3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-76-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR.
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) into position.

C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):
   (1) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

     (a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-76-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the Right Translating Cowl Seal (4).
CAUTION: THE SEAL AND SEAL BLOCK ARE BONDED TO EACH OTHER WITH SILICONE RUBBER COMPOUND. CAREFULLY SEPARATE THE SEAL AND SEAL BLOCK TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE UNDAMAGED PART.
   (1) Remove the screw (5).
   (2) Remove the seal block (6) from the seal (4).
   (3) Remove the seal (4) from the retainer.
   (4) Remove the seal (1) from the retainer (2).
NOTE: The seal retainer should be removed only if it is damaged.
   (5) Drill out the rivets (3) and remove the retainer (2). Do not enlarge the rivet holes. Use the MACHINE - DRILLING.

B. Clean the Repair Area
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Clean the repair area with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with V01-076Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade
   (2) Wipe the surface dry before the cleaning fluid evaporates.

E. Use the Silicone.
   (1) Install the
AIPC 78-32-76-82-050 END PLUG (7) and the AIPC 78-32-76-82-030 SEAL BLOCK (6).
   (2) Apply the silicone rubber compound (Material No.
V08-031) to the seal block (6) and the end plug (7).
   (3) Install the end plug (7) and the seal (6) block on the seal (4).
   (4) Install AIPC 78-32-76-82-010 SCREW (5).
   (5) Remove all unwanted silicone rubber compound with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.
14SBA1) .
   (6) Let the silicone rubber compound cure for at a minimum of least 8 hours at 59 deg.F (15 deg.C) before you handle it.
NOTE: You do not have to let the silicone rubber compound cure fully under repair conditions. The uncured silicone rubber compound is structurally and functionally acceptable.

F. Visually examine the completed repair to make sure that the requirements of this repair procedure are done.

G. Write VRS2070 adjacent to the assembly number on the translating sleeve to show that the repair has been done. Use a marking pen (Material No.V06-131) of a color which is different than the background.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
461AL 462AR.

B. Activate the thrust reverser HCU (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).

C. Close Access
   (1) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

D. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
NOTE: As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test without the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
