A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-32-70-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 78-32-70-010-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust recovery nozzle.
4. ProcedureSubtask 78-32-70-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the existing seal strips from the thrust recovery nozzle. Do not gouge or scratch the base metal of the thrust recovery nozzle when you remove the seal strips.
Subtask 78-32-70-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL B. Installation of the New Seal Strip
(1) Clean the faying surfaces of the metal. Use solvent (Material No.V01-393D) .
(2) Lightly abrade the pre-cleaned metal surface using waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-081) . Refer toNSRM 543000 general repairs.
(3) Remove any remaining sealant and contamination using solvent (Material No.V01-393D) or solvent (Material No.V01-438) and a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) .
(4) Lightly abrade the faying surface of the seal strips with waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-081) . Refer to V2500NSRM 543000 general repairs.
(5) Clean the faying surface of the new seal strips with solvent (Material No.V01-393D) or solvent (Material No.V01-438) and a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) . Wipe the surface before the solvent becomes dry.
(6) Mix and prepare adhesive (Material No.V08-021) or adhesive (Material No.V08-104) . Refer to manufacturer's instructions.
(7) Use the adhesive (Material No.V08-021) or adhesive (Material No.V08-104) to bond the three new seal strips onto the thrust recovery nozzle assembly. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(8) Apply the adhesive (Material No.V08-021) or adhesive (Material No.V08-104) to the faying surfaces of the seal strips and thrust recovery nozzle.
(9) Hold the new seal strips in place with a C-CLAMP - LARGE or similar device until the adhesive has fully cured.
5. Close-up(1) Clean the faying surfaces of the metal. Use solvent (Material No.V01-393D) .
(2) Lightly abrade the pre-cleaned metal surface using waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-081) . Refer to

(4) Lightly abrade the faying surface of the seal strips with waterproof silicon carbide abrasive paper (Material No.V05-081) . Refer to V2500
(5) Clean the faying surface of the new seal strips with solvent (Material No.V01-393D) or solvent (Material No.V01-438) and a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) . Wipe the surface before the solvent becomes dry.
(6) Mix and prepare adhesive (Material No.V08-021) or adhesive (Material No.V08-104) . Refer to manufacturer's instructions.
(7) Use the adhesive (Material No.V08-021) or adhesive (Material No.V08-104) to bond the three new seal strips onto the thrust recovery nozzle assembly. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(8) Apply the adhesive (Material No.V08-021) or adhesive (Material No.V08-104) to the faying surfaces of the seal strips and thrust recovery nozzle.
(9) Hold the new seal strips in place with a C-CLAMP - LARGE or similar device until the adhesive has fully cured.
NOTE: Cure the adhesive in reference to the manufacturer's instructions.

B. Do the re-activation procedure of the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):

(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

D. Operational Test
(1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).

NOTE: As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test without the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
