A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 78-32-49-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL 4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). Subtask 78-32-49-350-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the worn or damaged seal and/or retainer
(1) Pull the seal (45) from the retainer (46).
(2) Drill out the rivets (47) and/or (48) with MACHINE - DRILLING and remove the retainer (46). Do not make the rivet holes larger.
Subtask 78-32-49-110-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Pull the seal (45) from the retainer (46).
(2) Drill out the rivets (47) and/or (48) with MACHINE - DRILLING and remove the retainer (46). Do not make the rivet holes larger.
B. Clean the repair area
(1) Clean the repair area with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist withV01-076 Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade .
(2) Wipe the surface dry before the cleaning fluid evaporates.

C. Prepare the new retainer for installation
(1) Align the retainer (46) on the pressure bulkhead.
(2) Use the MACHINE - DRILLING to back drill the rivet holes to between 0.125 in. (3.18 mm) and 0.129 in. (3.28 mm).
(3) Remove the burrs from the drilled holes.
Subtask 78-32-49-350-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Align the retainer (46) on the pressure bulkhead.
(2) Use the MACHINE - DRILLING to back drill the rivet holes to between 0.125 in. (3.18 mm) and 0.129 in. (3.28 mm).

D. Install the retainer and seal

(1) Put the retainer (46) on the pressure bulkhead and wet install the rivets (41) and/or (48) with the primer (Material No.V08-032) . Wipe off all unwanted primer with the lint free cloth made moist with theV01-076 Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Technical grade .
(2) Install the seal (45).
(a) Apply a coat of the cold curing silicone compound (Material No.V08-043) to the inside of the retainer (46).
(b) Insert the seal in to the retainer before the cold curing silicone compound cures. Trim all unwanted seal material from the retainer edge.
(c) Apply cold curing silicone compound (Material No.V08-043) to the edges of the seal. Allow the cold curing silicone compound to cure for 30 minutes at room temperature.

(1) Put the retainer (46) on the pressure bulkhead and wet install the rivets (41) and/or (48) with the primer (Material No.V08-032) . Wipe off all unwanted primer with the lint free cloth made moist with the

E. Visually examine the completed repair to make sure that the requirements of this procedure are done.
