B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Ground Maintenance
Subtask 78-32-46-010-082-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THE DEACTIVATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER.
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS PROCEDURE, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED OPERATION AND THUS OF INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). C. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-46-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Do a Functional Check of the Pressure Relief Door Latch Tension
(1) Make sure that the pressure relief door is closed.
(a) Install the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER into the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE.
(b) Set the torque limit of the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE to the minimum permitted torque of 62 lbf.in (0.70 m.daN).
(c) Put the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER into the trigger slot on the pressure relief door latch.
(d) Apply torque in the opening direction.
1 If the pressure relief door latch unlocks and releases, replace the pressure relief door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-400-803).
2 If the pressure relief door latch does not unlock and release, continue to Para. 4.A.(2)(e).
(e) Remove the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER and WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE from the pressure relief door latch.
(f) Set the torque limit of the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE to the maximum permitted torque of 75 lbf.in (0.85 m.daN).
(g) Put the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER into the trigger slot on the pressure relief door latch.
(h) Apply torque in the opening direction.
1 If the pressure relief door latch unlocks and releases, continue to Para. 4.A.(2)(i).
2 If the pressure relief door latch does not unlock and release, replace the pressure relief door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-400-803).
(i) Keep the torque limit on the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE at 75 lbf.in (0.85 m.daN).
(j) Apply torque in the closing direction until the pressure relief door latch fully engages and locks.
1 If the pressure relief door latch does not fully engage and lock, replace the pressure relief door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-400-803).
(k) Remove the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER and WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE from the pressure relief door latch.
(l) Remove the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER from the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE.
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the pressure relief door is closed.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU DO A CHECK OF THE LATCH TENSION, MAKE SURE THAT YOU APPLY THE CORRECT TORQUE VALUES TO THE PRESSURE-RELIEF DOOR LATCHES. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE, DAMAGE TO THE PRESSURE-RELIEF DOOR LATCH AND TOOL(S) CAN OCCUR.
(2) Test the release load settings of the pressure relief door latch with the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. (a) Install the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER into the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE.
(b) Set the torque limit of the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE to the minimum permitted torque of 62 lbf.in (0.70 m.daN).
(c) Put the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER into the trigger slot on the pressure relief door latch.
(d) Apply torque in the opening direction.
1 If the pressure relief door latch unlocks and releases, replace the pressure relief door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-000-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-46-400-803).
2 If the pressure relief door latch does not unlock and release, continue to Para. 4.A.(2)(e).
(e) Remove the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER and WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE from the pressure relief door latch.
(f) Set the torque limit of the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE to the maximum permitted torque of 75 lbf.in (0.85 m.daN).
(g) Put the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER into the trigger slot on the pressure relief door latch.
(h) Apply torque in the opening direction.

(l) Remove the 636-3000-35GSE PRESS. RELIEF LATCH CORE COWL DOOR PRESSURE TESTER from the WRENCH - TORQUE, 3/8 IN. SQUARE DRIVE.

Pressure Relief Door Latch (Tension)
