Removal of the Thrust Reverser Alignment Fitting

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
437AL, 438AR.
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
447AL, 448AR.
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 78-32-44-010-073-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Remove the applicable forward hinge access-panel 451DL, 452DR, 461DL, or 462DR (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-000-801).
(2) Open the applicable thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
451AL, 452AR.
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL, 462AR.
4. Procedure(1) Remove the applicable forward hinge access-panel 451DL, 452DR, 461DL, or 462DR (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-000-801).
(2) Open the applicable thrust reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
451AL, 452AR.
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
461AL, 462AR.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-44-020-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Removal of the Thrust Reverser Alignment Fitting
(a) Remove the hinge pin, washer, techtrom washer and nut from the R1 hinge position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-05-000-801).
(b) Carefully, move the floating hinge to get access to the fasteners of the alignment fitting.

(c) Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3):
1 Remove the four pins (1), four washers (4) and four nuts (5) that attach the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3) and, if there, the shim (2), to the hinge beam.
2 Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3) and the shim (2) from the hinge beam.
3 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the shim (2) from the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3).

(d) Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (6):
1 Remove the three pins (1), the bolt (7), the three washers (4), the washer (8) and the three nuts (5) that attach the thrust reverser alignment fitting (6) and, if there, the shim (2), to the hinge beam.
2 Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (6) and the shim (2) from the hinge beam.
3 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the shim (2) from the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3).

NOTE: The following procedures are for the removal of the left thrust reverser alignment fitting. The procedures for the removal of the right thrust reverser alignment fitting are opposite.
(1) Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3) or (6) as follows: (a) Remove the hinge pin, washer, techtrom washer and nut from the R1 hinge position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-05-000-801).
(b) Carefully, move the floating hinge to get access to the fasteners of the alignment fitting.

(c) Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3):
1 Remove the four pins (1), four washers (4) and four nuts (5) that attach the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3) and, if there, the shim (2), to the hinge beam.
2 Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3) and the shim (2) from the hinge beam.
3 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the shim (2) from the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3).

(d) Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (6):
1 Remove the three pins (1), the bolt (7), the three washers (4), the washer (8) and the three nuts (5) that attach the thrust reverser alignment fitting (6) and, if there, the shim (2), to the hinge beam.
2 Remove the thrust reverser alignment fitting (6) and the shim (2) from the hinge beam.
3 Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the shim (2) from the thrust reverser alignment fitting (3).

CAUTION:
REMOVE AND INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
(2) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage of the engine.
