B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
Subtask 78-30-05-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). C. Get Access
(2) Remove the applicable right thrust reverser door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-803).
(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. ProcedureNOTE: You can also do this procedure if you remove the left fan cowl and the left thrust reverser and access the floating hinges above the right thrust reverser door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-10-000-801), (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-01-000-803).
(1) Remove the right fan cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-20-000-801). (2) Remove the applicable right thrust reverser door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-02-000-803).
(3) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

A. Remove the Thrust Reverser Floating Hinges as follows:
(b) Install the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR on the hinge pin (4) at the R1 hinge position.
1 Tighten the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR manually.
(c) Remove the hinge pin (4) from the R1 hinge position.
(d) Remove the R1 floating hinge assembly (6) from between the engine and the pylon.
(e) Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the hinge pin (4).
(3) Remove the R2 floating hinge assembly (7).
(a) Remove the washer (2), techtron washer (3) and nut (1) from the hinge pin (4) at the R2 hinge position.
(b) Install the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR on the hinge pin (4) at the R2 hinge position.
1 Tighten the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR manually.
(c) Remove the hinge pin (4) and techtron washer (3) from the R2 hinge position.
(d) Remove the R2 floating hinge assembly (7) from between the engine and the pylon.
(e) Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the hinge pin (4).
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Remove the forward hinge access panel (451DL) or (461DL) of the left thrust reverser (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-06-000-801). NOTE: If you removed the left thrust reverser, remove the forward hinge access panel (452DR) or (462DR) of the right thrust reverser.
(2) Remove the R1 floating hinge assembly (6). NOTE: You can remove the two floating hinge assemblies (6) and (7) or you can remove only one.
(a) Remove the washer (2), techtron washer (5) and nut (1) from the hinge pin (4) at the R1 hinge position. (b) Install the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR on the hinge pin (4) at the R1 hinge position.
1 Tighten the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR manually.
(c) Remove the hinge pin (4) from the R1 hinge position.
(d) Remove the R1 floating hinge assembly (6) from between the engine and the pylon.
(e) Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the hinge pin (4).
(3) Remove the R2 floating hinge assembly (7).
(a) Remove the washer (2), techtron washer (3) and nut (1) from the hinge pin (4) at the R2 hinge position.
(b) Install the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR on the hinge pin (4) at the R2 hinge position.
1 Tighten the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR manually.
(c) Remove the hinge pin (4) and techtron washer (3) from the R2 hinge position.
(d) Remove the R2 floating hinge assembly (7) from between the engine and the pylon.
(e) Remove the 636-3000-9GSE TR THREADS PROTECTOR from the hinge pin (4).
