3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-11-941-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012).

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-11-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Upper Track Fire Seal
   (1) Clean the seal retainer.
     (a) Lightly abrade the faying surface to remove the remaining sealant using ABRASIVE PAPER - 240 GRIT (ANSI B74.18).
     (b) Wipe clean using a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) dampened with V01-124Isopropyl Alcohol, Technical grade.
   (2) Prepare the new upper track fire seal.
     (a) Scuff sand the faying surface using ABRASIVE PAPER - 240 GRIT (ANSI B74.18).
     (b) Remove all sanding debris using a lint free cloth (Material No.V02-099) dampened with V01-124Isopropyl Alcohol, Technical grade, wipe dry using Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) before the solvent evaporates.
   (3) Application of primer if necessary depending on the sealant type used.
     (a) Apply sealant primer (Material No.V08-179) to both faying surfaces (fire seal and seal retainer) immediately after cleaning. Handle parts with lint free gloves (Material No.V02-097) .
     (b) Allow primer to dry at least 30 minutes prior to the sealant application.
   (4) Apply of sealant.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY SEALANTS TO SURFACES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 50°F (10°C).
     (a) Bonding shall be within 4 hours after solvent cleaning or priming.
     (b) Apply sealant-primerless (Material No.V08-177) or V08-178sealant (alternate with primer) to both faying surfaces (fire seal and seal retainer).
     (c) Maintain bonding pressure as constant and as uniformly distributed over the area being bonded as practicable during cure.
     (d) Cure as per Manufacturer's instructions.
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-410-010):

D. Operational Test
   (1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
NOTE: As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test without the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).
