A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine shutdown occurred five minutes or more before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
C. Deactivate the Thrust Reverser
4. ProcedureWARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
Subtask 78-32-00-210-112-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Do a Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI) of the "C" Duct Hinge Fittings and the Surrounding Structure (150 mm around the hinge fitting).
(1) Remove the 11 screws (5) that attach the hinge panel (4) to the thrust reverser half (2).
(2) Remove the hinge access panel (4) from the thrust reverser half.
(3) Clean the inspection areas with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to remove the unwanted debris, dirt and grease.
(4) Remove the cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) before it becomes dry.
(5) Do a DVI of the "C" duct hinges and the surrounding structure. Use an LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 05X or a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
(a) Examine the "C" duct hinges and 150 mm (5.91 in.) of the adjacent structure from the edges of all hinges. Look for corrosion.
1 If you find corrosion please refer to SRM 512200 for types, inspection, removal and corrosion protection.
(6) After the inspection, put the hinge access panel (4) in position on the thrust reverser half.
(7) Attach the hinge access panel (4) with the 11 screws (5) to the thrust reverser half.
(8) TORQUE the screws (5) to between 90 and 75 lbf.in (1.02 and 0.85 m.daN )
.
5. Close-up(1) Remove the 11 screws (5) that attach the hinge panel (4) to the thrust reverser half (2).
(2) Remove the hinge access panel (4) from the thrust reverser half.
(3) Clean the inspection areas with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to remove the unwanted debris, dirt and grease.
(4) Remove the cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) before it becomes dry.
(5) Do a DVI of the "C" duct hinges and the surrounding structure. Use an LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 05X or a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
(a) Examine the "C" duct hinges and 150 mm (5.91 in.) of the adjacent structure from the edges of all hinges. Look for corrosion.

(6) After the inspection, put the hinge access panel (4) in position on the thrust reverser half.
