Removal of the TRAS Actuator Proximity-Sensors

DO NOT DO WORK ON THE ENGINES DURING THIS PROCEDURE FOR 5 MINUTES MIN AFTER THE END OF THIS PROCEDURE.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). Subtask 78-31-20-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the TRAS Feedback Locking Actuator Proximity Sensors
(c) Bend the anti-rotation tab washers (4) so that they do not prevent the movement of the lock nuts (5).
(d) Remove the lock nuts (5), anti-rotation tabs washers (4) and proximity sensors (6) from the feedback locking actuator with the A708405 PROX SENSOR R/I TOOL.
(e) Discard the anti-rotation tab washers (4).
(2) Remove the TRAS locking-actuator proximity-sensors as follows:
(c) Bend the anti-rotation tab washers (2) so that they do not prevent the movement of the lock nuts (1).
(d) If necessary, rotate the manual lock drive on the locking actuator to get access to the lock nuts (1).
(e) Remove the lock nuts (1), anti-rotation tabs (2) and proximity sensors (3) from the locking actuator with the A708405 PROX SENSOR R/I TOOL.
(f) Discard the anti-rotation tab washers (2).
(3) Installation of protection covers
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION:
USE TEFLON-JAWED PLIERS TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE METAL-JAWED PLIERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN OCCUR.
(1) Remove the TRAS feedback-locking-actuator proximity-sensors as follows: NOTE: These procedures are for the TRAS proximity sensors on the left thrust reverser half. The TRAS proximity sensors on the right thrust reverser half are opposite.
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors of the TRAS monitoring harness from the proximity sensors (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-62-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-62-000-802). NOTE: For the left thrust reverser half, the FINs for the connectors are 4032KS-A and 4040KS-A. For the right thrust reverser half, the FINs for the connectors are 4033KS-A and 4041KS-A.
(b) Install COVER - PROTECTION on the TRAS monitoring harness connectors and feedback locking actuator connectors.(c) Bend the anti-rotation tab washers (4) so that they do not prevent the movement of the lock nuts (5).
(d) Remove the lock nuts (5), anti-rotation tabs washers (4) and proximity sensors (6) from the feedback locking actuator with the A708405 PROX SENSOR R/I TOOL.
(e) Discard the anti-rotation tab washers (4).
(2) Remove the TRAS locking-actuator proximity-sensors as follows:
NOTE: These procedures are for the TRAS proximity sensors on the left thrust reverser half. The TRAS proximity sensors on the right thrust reverser half are opposite.
(a) Disconnect the electrical connectors of the TRAS monitoring harness from the proximity sensors (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-62-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-62-000-802). NOTE: For the left thrust reverser half, the FINs for the connectors are 4034KS-A and 4042KS-A. For the right thrust reverser half, the FINs for the connectors are 4035KS-A and 4043KS-A.
(b) Install COVER - PROTECTION on the TRAS monitoring harness connectors and locking actuator connectors.(c) Bend the anti-rotation tab washers (2) so that they do not prevent the movement of the lock nuts (1).
(d) If necessary, rotate the manual lock drive on the locking actuator to get access to the lock nuts (1).
(e) Remove the lock nuts (1), anti-rotation tabs (2) and proximity sensors (3) from the locking actuator with the A708405 PROX SENSOR R/I TOOL.
(f) Discard the anti-rotation tab washers (2).
(3) Installation of protection covers
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
