A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

Subtask 78-31-15-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Installation of the lock indicator proximity sensor:

Stow/Lock Sensor ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Install the proximity sensor
(a) Put the shim (17) on the proximity sensor (16).
(b) Put the proximity sensor and shim in to the mount hole on the locking actuator (1) from your right.
(c) Install the lockwasher (18) and the nut (19) on the proximity sensor.
(d) TORQUE the nut (19) to between 16 and 12 lbf.ft (2.17 and 1.63 m.daN )

(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(2) Install the electrical connector

Stow/Lock Sensor ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(a) Connect the electrical connector (14) to the proximity sensor (16) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-15-912-010).
(b) Tighten the electrical connector by hand plus one-eighth turn.

B. Put the locking actuators in the locked position

Locking Actuator Lock-Out ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LOCKING-ACTUATOR LOCK LEVERS ARE IN THE FORWARD LOCKED POSITION FOR FLIGHT OPERATION. IF THEY ARE NOT IN THIS POSITION, IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO OPERATE THE THRUST REVERSER DURING THE FLIGHT.

(1) Remove the lockout pin, IAE 1N20049, (3) from the lock lever (2) of the locking actuator (1) and move the lock levers forward to the locked position.

C. Measure the gap between the end of the proximity sensor (4) and the target plate (13) on the lock lever (2)

Stow/Lock Sensor ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

If the gap is not between 0.059 in. (1.5 mm) and 0.079 in. (2 mm) ,adjust the gap (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-15-820-010).

A. Activate the thrust reverser Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-012).

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

C. Operational Test
(1) Do an operational test of the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041).

NOTE: As an alternative procedure, you can do the operational test without the CFDS (Ref. AMM TASK 78-31-00-710-041)
