A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that you did the procedure to prevent engine motoring and to stop the electrical supply to the Electronic Engine Control (EEC)
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-832).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 77-31-01-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Prognostics and Health Management Unit (PHMU)
   (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION: REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
     (a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.
   (2) Install the PHMU (1) on the fan case brackets as follows:
     (a) Apply Antigalling Compound (Material No.P06-054) to the threads of the four bolts (2).
NOTE: For new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
     (b) Install the PHMU (1) with the four bolts (2).
     (c) TORQUE the four bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN ) T.
   (3) Connect the wiring harness (WF02) connector (P9) to the PHMU (1) receptacle (J9) as follows:
     (a) Examine, align and engage the connector.
     (b) Push in lightly on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
     (c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
     (d) Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
     (e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
     (f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
   (4) Connect the wiring harness (W03) connector (P10) to the PHMU (1) receptacle (J10) as follows:
     (a) Examine, align and engage the connector.
     (b) Push in lightly on the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
     (c) Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT and tighten the connector against the receptacle.
     (d) Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
     (e) While you tighten, push the connector in and from side to side.
     (f) Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
   (5) Install the ground strap to the PHMU (1) with the bolt (12).
   (6) TORQUE the bolt (12) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )

   (7) Make sure that most current PHMU part number is installed. Check the number written on the label to the most recent EEC/PHMU software service bulletin.
   (8) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
   (9) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
     (a) Make sure that you install the COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

C. Test
   (1) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence
(Ref. AMM TASK 73-25-34-400-802).
   (2) Do the test No.6 - EEC - Idle test (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-807).
