3. Job Set-up
Subtask 75-31-05-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

D. Open the right thrust reverser-cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 75-31-05-020-051-A
A. Removal of the Right VBV Actuator
WARNING: BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER. IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP. AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
   (1) Remove segment shroud 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (2) Remove VBV duct 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-000-801).
   (3) Remove segment shroud 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).

CFM ALL; PRE LEAP SB 72-0207

   (4) Remove the two bolts (5) that attach the support bracket (3) to the support bracket (4).
   (5) Remove the support bracket (3) from the support bracket (4).

CFM ALL; END OF PRE LEAP SB 72-0207

CFM ALL; POST LEAP SB 72-0207

   (6) Remove the two bolts (18) that attach the support brackets (3) and (17) to the support bracket (4).
   (7) Remove the support brackets (3) and (17) from the support bracket (4).

   (8) Disconnection of the electrical connector:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connector (13) from the right VBV actuator (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (9) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (12).
   (10) Remove the four bolts (11) that attach the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (12) to the right VBV actuator (2).
   (11) Remove and discard the gasket seal (10).
   (12) Remove the three bolts (6) that attach the right VBV actuator (2) to the fan hub frame (1).
   (13) Move the right VBV actuator (2) away from the fan hub frame (1) enough to remove the bolt (14).
   (14) Remove the bolt (9) and the washer (16) that attach the bonding strap (8) to the fan hub frame (1).
NOTE: The bolt (7) and the bonding strap (8) are components of the VBV actuator (2) and must not be removed.
   (15) Remove the bolt (14) that attaches the right VBV actuator (2) to the actuator turnbuckle clevis (15) and remove the right VBV actuator (2) from the engine.
   (16) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and the disconnected connectors.
