Removal of the Left Modulated Turbine Cooling (MTC) Actuator

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 75-23-05-010-050-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 75-23-05-010-051-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES.
IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER.
IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP.
AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
Subtask 75-23-05-020-050-A A. Removal of the Left Modulated Turbine Cooling (MTC) Actuator
(1) Remove segment shroud 5 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
(2) Remove VBV duct 6 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-000-801).
(3) Remove the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) as follows:
(a) Remove the hose clamp (10) that attaches the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) to the left-side-core compartment cooling-manifold (9).
(b) Remove the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) from the left-side-core compartment cooling-manifold (9) and the support bracket (12).
(c) Remove the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) from the engine.
(4) Remove the support bracket (12) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (14) that attaches the loop clamp (15) and HJ8A electrical harness (7) to the support bracket (12).
(b) Remove the bolt (16) that attaches the loop clamp (17) and HJ5A electrical harness (1) to the support bracket (12).
(c) Remove the HJ5B electrical harness (3) and HJ8B electrical harness (2) from the support bracket (12) clips.
(d) Remove the two bolts (8) that attach the support bracket (11) to the support bracket (12) and remove the support bracket (12) from the engine.
(5) Disconnect the electrical connector (31) from the left MTC actuator (24) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(6) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the drain tube (19).
(7) Remove the drain tube (19) as follows:
(a) Disconnect the drain tube (19) B-nut from the drain tube (20).
(b) Disconnect the drain tube (19) B-nut from the hydraulic VSV fuel tube-hose (18) and remove the drain tube (19) from the engine.
(8) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30).
(9) Disconnect the MTC drain tube (29) B-nut from the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) and from the drain tube (37). Remove the MTC drain tube (29).
(10) Disconnect the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) B-nuts (two locations) from the fuel-hydraulic manifold (28).
(11) Remove the four bolts (35) that attach the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) to the left MTC actuator (24) and remove the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) from the engine.
(12) Remove and discard the seal flange gasket (36).
(13) Remove the bolt (25) and nut (27) that attach the left MTC actuator (24) rod to the MTC valve link (26).
(14) Remove the four bolts (34) and the four spacers (33) that attach the left MTC actuator (24) to the MTC bracket (32) and remove the left MTC actuator (24) from the engine.
(15) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and the disconnected connectors.
Subtask 75-23-05-620-050-A (1) Remove segment shroud 5 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
(2) Remove VBV duct 6 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-000-801).
(3) Remove the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) as follows:
(a) Remove the hose clamp (10) that attaches the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) to the left-side-core compartment cooling-manifold (9).
(b) Remove the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) from the left-side-core compartment cooling-manifold (9) and the support bracket (12).
(c) Remove the air-core compartment cooling-duct (13) from the engine.
(4) Remove the support bracket (12) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (14) that attaches the loop clamp (15) and HJ8A electrical harness (7) to the support bracket (12).
(b) Remove the bolt (16) that attaches the loop clamp (17) and HJ5A electrical harness (1) to the support bracket (12).
(c) Remove the HJ5B electrical harness (3) and HJ8B electrical harness (2) from the support bracket (12) clips.
(d) Remove the two bolts (8) that attach the support bracket (11) to the support bracket (12) and remove the support bracket (12) from the engine.
(5) Disconnect the electrical connector (31) from the left MTC actuator (24) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(6) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the drain tube (19).
(7) Remove the drain tube (19) as follows:
(a) Disconnect the drain tube (19) B-nut from the drain tube (20).
(b) Disconnect the drain tube (19) B-nut from the hydraulic VSV fuel tube-hose (18) and remove the drain tube (19) from the engine.
(8) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30).
(9) Disconnect the MTC drain tube (29) B-nut from the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) and from the drain tube (37). Remove the MTC drain tube (29).
(10) Disconnect the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) B-nuts (two locations) from the fuel-hydraulic manifold (28).
(11) Remove the four bolts (35) that attach the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) to the left MTC actuator (24) and remove the MTC fuel-hydraulic manifold (30) from the engine.
(12) Remove and discard the seal flange gasket (36).
(13) Remove the bolt (25) and nut (27) that attach the left MTC actuator (24) rod to the MTC valve link (26).
(14) Remove the four bolts (34) and the four spacers (33) that attach the left MTC actuator (24) to the MTC bracket (32) and remove the left MTC actuator (24) from the engine.
(15) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and the disconnected connectors.
B. Preservation of the left MTC Actuator
(1) In the instance of shipping or prolonged storage, preserve the left MTC actuator as per theCMM 752305 .
