4. Procedure
CAUTION: ALIGN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER FERRULE WITH THE COMBUSTION CASE BOSS AND THE IGNITER BUSHING BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE SPARK IGNITER. IF NOT, DAMAGE TO THE SPARK IGNITER CAN OCCUR.
Subtask 74-21-30-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the protective covers from the igniter bushing and put a plastic drift, 0.375 in. (9.52 mm) maximum diameter, through the igniter bushing, the boss of the combustion case and the combustion chamber ferrule to align them.
Subtask 74-21-30-350-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Loosen the ferrule and align it with the igniter bushing and the combustion case boss.
   (1) If the ferrule is not easy to move, apply liquid wrench (Material No.CP2162) .
Subtask 74-21-30-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Installation of the spark igniter
   (1) If the igniter bushing was removed, install as follows:
NOTE: The depth of the spark igniter is controlled by the igniter bushing and igniter plug gasket(s). Each gasket is 0.015 in. (0.38 mm) in thickness.
     (a) Install the igniter plug gaskets that were removed between the igniter bushing and the combustion case boss.
     (b) Temporarily install the igniter bushing in the combustion case boss and tighten with your hand.
     (c) Measure the dimension from the top aft side of the igniter bushing to the inner surface of the combustion chamber outer liner. The dimension must be approximately 2.550 in. (64.8 mm).
     (d) If the dimension is not approximately 2.550 in. (64.8 mm), remove the igniter bushing and add or remove gaskets as required to get this dimension.
     (e) TORQUE the igniter bushing to between 600 and 540 lbf.in (6.78 and 6.10 m.daN ) T.
     (f) Make sure the dimension from the top aft side of the igniter bushing to the inner surface of the combustion chamber outer liner is between 2.534 in. and 2.550 in. (64.36 mm and 64.8 mm).
     (g) If the dimension is out of limits, remove the igniter bushing and do steps (b) thru (f) again.
     (h) Safety the igniter bushing with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia to the adjacent mounting bolt of the fuel nozzle.
   (2) Install the spark igniter.
     (a) Apply a small amount of graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the spark igniter threads that connect with the igniter bushing in the combustion case boss.
     (b) Install the spark igniter into the igniter bushing by hand until it touches the bottom. TORQUE the spark igniter to between 290 and 260 lbf.in (3.28 and 2.94 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Remove the protective covers from the ignition lead.

PRE SB 74-003

     (d) Install the caged spring assembly (20) to the ignition lead. Make sure that the large shoulder end of the caged spring assembly (20) is at the contact end of the ignition lead.
     (e) Install the ignition lead.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY GREASE OR ANY LUBRICANT TO THE THREADS OF THE CONNECTOR ON THE IGNITION LEAD. GREASE AND LUBRICANTS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IGNITION LEAD AND THE SPARK IGNITER.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HANDS AND TOOLS ARE CLEAN. DO NOT TOUCH THE IGNITION LEAD OR THE SPARK IGNITER WITH DIRTY OR GREASY HANDS AND TOOLS, DIRT AND GREASE WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE IGNITION LEAD AND THE SPARK IGNITER.
1 Install the new white chamfered silicone
AIPC 74-21-10-01-110 SEAL (10) or white chamfered silicone AIPC 74-21-20-01-060 SEAL (10) on the ignition lead.

END OF PRE SB 74-003

POST SB 74-003

     (f) Install the ignition lead.
1 Install the new blue symmetrical
AIPC 74-21-10-01-110 SEAL (10) or blue symmetrical AIPC 74-21-20-01-060 SEAL (10) on the ignition lead.

END OF SB 74-003

     (g) Carefully put the ignition lead end into the spark igniter connector and tighten the ignition lead coupling nut by hand.
       1 TORQUE the connector nut to between 290 and 260 lbf.in (3.28 and 2.94 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Assemble the 2 piece cooling shroud onto the flange of the ignition lead, and secure with the shroud clamp.
1 Install the shroud clamp and TORQUE the shroud clamp to between 40 and 35 lbf.in (0.45 and 0.40 m.daN )
T. Make sure there is sufficient clearance between the shroud clamp, the cooling shroud, and the fuel manifold and nozzles.
     (i) Install the ignition lead in the hinged clamp nearest to the spark igniter. Turn the attachment bolt one-quarter turn to engage the lock, and continue to tighten until the ignition lead cannot be moved in the clamp.
