3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-21-60-941-079-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-60-020-065-A
A. Removal of the HJ8B Engine Wiring Harness (4159KS)
   (1) Remove the segment shroud 1 (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (2) Remove the segment shroud 2 (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
   (3) Disconnection of the HJ8B engine wiring harness (4159KS) (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
NOTE: If necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to disconnect the electrical connectors.
     (a) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) channel B J8 receptacle (4601KS2) (5) (at the 3 o'clock position).
     (b) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the nacelle anti-ice pressure sensor 2 (4002DN) (14) (at the 6 o'clock position).
     (c) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the fan overheat temperature sensor 2 channel B receptacle (4250KS2) (13) (at the 6 o'clock position).
     (d) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the fan overheat temperature sensor 1 channel A receptacle (4250KS1) (15) (at the 12 o'clock position).
     (e) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the Fuel Return Valve (FRV) channel B receptacle (4018KS) (16) (at the 12 o'clock position).
     (f) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the HJ8A engine wiring harness receptacle (4158KS) (17) (at the 3 o'clock position).
     (g) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the T48 harness (right) (4168KS2) (18) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
     (h) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the No. 1 bearing accelerometer (4188KS) (19) (at the 2:30 o'clock position).
     (i) Disconnect the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) connector from the T3 sensor channel B (4084KS) (22) (at the 2 o'clock position).

   (4) Remove the nut (7) and the bolt (9) from the clamp (8) that attaches to the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2).

   (5) Remove the nut (7) and the bolt (9) from the clamp (8) that attaches the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2).

   (6) Removal of the bolts from the clamps that attach to the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2):
     (a) Remove the bolt (10) from the clamp (6).
     (b) Remove the bolt (11) from the clamp (12).

     (d) Remove the bolt (21) from the clamp (20).

     (f) Remove the bolt (23) from the clamp (24).
NOTE: The cushioned clamp (24) and the bolt (23) are deleted through SB 72-0444 and replaced by spring clip on the support bracket.

   (7) Cut and remove the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) around the engine harnesses.
   (8) Removal of the bracket assemblies:
     (a) Removal of the bracket assembly (28):
       1 Remove the five nuts (30) and the five bolts (27) that attach the bracket assembly (28) on the fireproof block (31) and bracket (29).
       2 Remove the bracket assembly (28).
     (b) Removal of the bracket assembly (25):
       1 Remove the four nuts (32) and the four bolts (26) that attach the bracket assembly (25) on the fireproof block (31) and bracket (29).
       2 Remove the bracket assembly (25).
   (9) Remove and discard the fireproof block (31).
   (10) Remove the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) from the clips (1) along its routing.
   (11) Carefully remove the HJ8B engine wiring harness (2) from the engine.
   (12) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and disconnected connectors.
