Removal of the HJ5A Engine Wiring Harness

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-21-60-941-067-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-60-020-059-A
A. Removal of the HJ5A Engine Wiring Harness (4147KS)
   (1) Remove the segment shroud 2 (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (2) Remove the segment shroud 3 (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (3) Remove the segment shroud 4 (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
   (4) Remove the segment shroud 5 (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-000-801).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
   (5) Disconnection of the HJ5A engine wiring harness (4147KS) (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
NOTE: If necessary, use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to disconnect the electrical connectors.
     (a) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the EEC channel A J5 receptacle (4601KS1) (7) (at the 2 o'clock position).
     (b) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fuel transmitter (4010KS) (16) (at the 3:30 o'clock position).
     (c) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fuel temperature transducer (4017KS) (21) (at the 3:30 o'clock position).
     (d) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the T25 channel A receptacle (4083KS) (22) (at the 3 o'clock position).
     (e) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the N1 sensor channel A receptacle (4064KS) (25) (at the 3 o'clock position).
     (f) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the nacelle anti-ice (4010DN) (28) (at the 9:30 o'clock position).
     (g) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the left variable stator vane actuator (4022KS) (30) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (h) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the left modulated turbine cooling actuator (4163KS) (29) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (i) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the left variable bleed valve actuator (4167KS) (35) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (j) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fuel manifold pressure transducer (4099KS) (36) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
     (k) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the split control unit/servo valve assembly channel A receptacle (4186KS) (37) (at the 8:30 o'clock position).
     (l) Disconnect the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) connector from the fuel metering unit channel A receptacle (4360KS1) (42) (at the 9 o'clock position).
     (m) Remove the two bolts (14) that attach the connector socket (12) to the bracket (15).
     (n) Disconnect the connector socket (12) from the HJ5B engine wiring harness connector (4148KS) (13) (at the 3 o'clock position).
   (6) Removal of the bolts from the clamps that attach to the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1):
     (a) Remove the bolt (8) from the clamp (9).

     (b) Remove the bolt (10) from the clamp (11).

     (c) Remove the bolt (18) from the clamp (17).

     (d) Remove the bolt (20) from the clamp (19).
     (e) Remove the bolt (23) from the clamp (24).
     (f) Remove the bolt (26) from the clamp (27).

     (g) Remove the bolt (34) from the clamp (33).

     (h) Remove the bolt (51) from the clamp (52).
     (i) Remove the bolt (31) from the clamp (32).
     (j) Remove the bolt (38) from the clamp (39).
     (k) Remove the bolt (41) from the clamp (40).
   (7) Cut and remove the RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) around the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1).
   (8) Removal of the bracket assemblies:
     (a) Removal of the bracket assembly (46):
       1 Remove the five nuts (48) and the five bolts (45) that attach the bracket assembly (46) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47).
       2 Remove the bracket assembly (46).
     (b) Removal of the bracket assembly (43):
       1 Remove the four nuts (50) and the four bolts (44) that attach the bracket assembly (43) on the fireproof block (49) and bracket (47).
       2 Remove the bracket assembly (43).
   (9) Remove and discard the fireproof block (49).
   (10) Remove the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) from the clipping point (2) along its routing.
   (11) Carefully remove the HJ5A engine wiring harness (1) from the engine.
   (12) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the COVER - SHEET on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and disconnected connectors.
