3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):

1.The cables for:


A.Cuts, abrasion collapse, rupture of cable sheath

B.Broken strands on braided conduit
3 broken strands for each braid if one unbroken strand is remaining and no more than 9 broken strands for each lead

C.Braze joint separation on braided conduit
Not serviceable
Replace harness
D.Single wire out of the braid which connect with attachment points or terminal lug cable or metallic coiled adapter
Not serviceable

E.Single wire out of the braid between two attachment points
Only one not more than 1.25 in. (31.75 mm) maximum width
Repair wiring harness with fiber-glass tape and lockwire (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-300-003)

Only one not more than 1.25 in. (31.75 mm) maximum width, if not more than one-fourth of a turn distance between two adjacent repaired areas must be 1.00 in. (25.4 mm) minimum
Repair wiring harness with silicone rubber tape (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-300-004)
2.The electrical connectors for:


A.Thread damage
30 percent damage on one lead-in thread or 20 percent damage of two lead-in threads
Chase threads if in specified limits, or replace the harness
B.Pin damage
Must connect freely with the related leads
Straighten bent pins. Replace harness if pins are broken, eroded, or seized.
C.Dirt inside connector well
None permitted
Clean with a BRUSH - BRISTLED and isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
D.Fuel Wetting and Leakage


(1)Fuel wetting at J7 or J8 HMU connectors when removed
Serviceable
NOTE: Wetting is moisture that does not increase in time.

(2)Fuel wetting at J7 or J8 HMU connectors when installed
Not serviceable
Remove and replace cable and HMU (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-400-040), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-041) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-400-041), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-10-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-10-400-002).
(3)Fuel leakage at J7 or J8 HMU connectors when removed
Serviceable
Dry connectors with AIR SOURCE FILTERED, DRY. Clean with isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
NOTE: There is a leakage when you continuously see drops.
(4)Fuel leakage at J7 or J8 HMU connectors when installed
Not serviceable
Remove and replace cable and HMU (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-040), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-040), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-400-040), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-400-040), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-041), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-000-041), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-400-041), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-400-041), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-10-000-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-10-400-002).
(5)Socket contact retention tests: (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-50-750-003).


E.Turn the knurled nut clockwise, then counterclockwise to do a check of the self-locking property.
