A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-40-420-053-A
A. Installation of the PMA Rotor
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
   (3) Lubricate the threads of the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) gearshaft (4) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (4) Install the PMA rotor (1) on the AGB gearshaft (4).
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE PERMANENT MAGNET ALTERNATOR (PMA) ROTOR NUT. THE ROTOR NUT HAS A LEFT THREAD. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE, DAMAGE TO THE ROTOR NUT CAN OCCUR.
   (5) Install the nut (3) on the AGB gearshaft (4).
CAUTION: DO NOT TORQUE THE NUT TO MORE THAN 495 LBF.IN. IF YOU DO, DAMAGE TO THE HAND-CRANKING DRIVER AND THE DYNAMIC SEAL CAN OCCUR. THIS CAN CAUSE OIL LEAKAGE.
   (6) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 495 and 451 lbf.in (5.59 and 5.10 m.daN ) T.
   (7) Do a check of the hand-cranking driver to make sure that the gear shaft tangs are correctly aligned with their socket slots. If a misalignment is observed, please contact CFM.
   (8) Remove the 956A7613 ADAPTER, LOCK - CORE ENGINE from the AGB manual-control-cover drive-pad (6).
   (9) Install the manual control cover (5) of the AGB (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-03-400-801).
   (10) Install the PMA stator (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-40-400-802).

   (1) Do the idle test (menu mode) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-803).
