Removal of the Fuel Return To Tank (RTT) Valve
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE OIL AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
DO NOT LET THE ENGINE FUEL SPILL ON THE ENGINE. YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY REMOVE UNWANTED FUEL. THE FUEL IS FLAMMABLE AND CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

A. Removal of the Fuel Return To Tank (RTT) Valve
(2) Remove the valve (1) from the thermal management system manifold as follows:
(a) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the valve (1).
(b) Disconnect the wiring harness (WC11) from the valve (1) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(c) Disconnection of the fuel tube
(d) Remove the four bolts (4), the four washers (3), the valve (1) and the face seal (2).
(3) Installation of protection covers
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Find the fuel RTT valve (1) attached to the thermal management system manifold at the 8 o'clock position. (2) Remove the valve (1) from the thermal management system manifold as follows:
(a) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the valve (1).
(b) Disconnect the wiring harness (WC11) from the valve (1) with the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT.
(c) Disconnection of the fuel tube
CAUTION:
USE A SECOND WRENCH TO HOLD THE MATING PARTS WHEN YOU LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE OR HOSE NUTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, YOU CAN TWIST OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TUBES OR HOSES.
1 Disconnect the fuel tube from the valve (1). (d) Remove the four bolts (4), the four washers (3), the valve (1) and the face seal (2).
NOTE: The face seal (2) may be reused later (Ref. AMM TASK 73-13-03-400-801).
1 If necessary remove two clamps that attach the loop-B fire harness (Ref. AMM TASK 26-12-62-000-802). (3) Installation of protection covers
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
