3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-11-50-941-059-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Make sure the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 73-11-50-420-057-A
A. Installation of the Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) Oil Cooler
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
   (1) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the IDG oil cooler (1).
   (2) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (3) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (4) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (3), the four bolts (6), the four bolts (9), the four bolts (12), the four bolts (14), the new AIPC 24-21-49-10-150 GASKET (4), the new AIPC 24-21-49-10-140 GASKET (7), the new EIPC 73-11-50-01-040 GASKET (10) and the new EIPC 73-11-50-01-020 GASKET (13) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (5) Install the IDG oil cooler (1) in the correct position on the four mounting brackets (16).
   (6) Install the four bolts (14) with the four captive washers to attach the IDG oil cooler (1) on the four mounting brackets (16).
   (7) TORQUE the four bolts (14) to between 74.55 and 67.45 lbf.in (0.84 and 0.76 m.daN ) T.
   (8) Connection of the fuel tubes to the IDG oil cooler (1):
WARNING: WHEN YOU USE ENGINE FUEL, USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT AND DO IT IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE FUEL IS TOXIC.
     (a) Install the new gasket (13) and the fuel tube (11) in the correct position on the IDG oil cooler (1).
     (b) Install the four bolts (12) to attach the fuel tube (11) to the IDG oil cooler (1) and tighten them with your hand.
     (c) TORQUE the four bolts (12) to between 120.81 and 109.31 lbf.in (1.37 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
     (d) Install the new gasket (10) and the fuel tube (8) in the correct position on the IDG oil cooler (1).
     (e) Install the four bolts (9) to attach the fuel tube (8) to the IDG oil cooler (1) and tighten them with your hand.
     (f) TORQUE the four bolts (9) to between 120.81 and 109.31 lbf.in (1.37 and 1.24 m.daN )
T.
   (9) Connection of the oil tubes to the IDG oil cooler (1):
     (a) Install the new
AIPC 24-21-49-10-140 GASKET (7) and the oil tube (5) in the correct position on the IDG oil cooler (1).
     (b) Install the four bolts (6) to attach the oil tube (5) to the IDG oil cooler (1) and tighten them with your hand.
     (c) TORQUE the four bolts (6) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
     (d) Install the new
AIPC 24-21-49-10-150 GASKET (4) and the oil tube (2) in the correct position on the IDG oil cooler (1).
     (e) Install the four bolts (3) to attach the oil tube (2) to the IDG oil cooler (1) and tighten them with your hand.
     (f) TORQUE the four bolts (3) to between 115 and 109 lbf.in (1.30 and 1.23 m.daN )
T.
   (10) Fill the IDG with oil (
Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-612-804).
   (11) Remove the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) from below the IDG oil cooler (1).
   (12) Remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE.
5. Close-up

   (1) Do the idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-815).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
