Cleaning of the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) Assembly


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET OIL GET ON THE ENGINE OR OTHER COMPONENTS. IMMEDIATELY CLEAN THE OIL WHEN IT FALLS ON THEM. OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-63-00-941-067-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

C. Make sure that the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) assembly is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-000-802).
4. Procedure

A. Cleaning of the AGB Assembly
NOTE: If the engine is exposed to unusual operating conditions, make sure that any sign of defects are correctly written and documented before the parts are sent for cleaning operations.
   (1) Clean the AGB assembly (1) as follows:
     (a) Remove oil, grease and loose dirt from the AGB (1).
       1 Clean the components with a lint-free cloth, using stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or white spirit (Material No.CP2010) .
     (b) Lubricate all the bearings with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Seal all the gearbox openings to prevent entrance of moisture.
5. Close-up

A. Install the AGB (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-400-802).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
