A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-63-00-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the pneumatic starter
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 15 L - SHALLOW under the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) to collect the remaining fluid from the tubes and control.
   (2) Remove the pneumatic starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001).

B. Preparation for the removal of the AGB
F Fan Case Water Drain Tube ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Disconnection of Hoses from HMU ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Disconnection of Wiring Harnesses ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Removal of Ground Wire ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
   (1) Remove the fan case water drain tube as follows:
     (a) Remove the nut and the bolt which attach the drain tube clamp assembly (80) to the bracket (70) on the AGB scavenge tube (90).
     (b) Remove the nut (40) and the bolt (30) which attach the drain tube clamp (50) to harness J10 (60).
     (c) Disconnect the fan case water drain tube (20) from the fan case nipple (10) and remove it.
   (2) Remove the AGB external parts as follows:
     (a) Remove the oil drain plug (100) from the rear face of the AGB and collect the oil from the AGB housing. Let the oil drain. Install and tighten the plug (100) with your hand.
       1 Disconnect the coupling nuts of the HLP fuel tube (150) from the fuel return valve (130) and from the fuel outlet tube (180) of the IDG oil cooler (220).
       2 Remove the HLP fuel tube (150).
     (b) Disconnect the clamps which follow:
       1 Remove the nut (200) and the bolt (210) which attach the clamp assemblies (240) of the fuel inlet and outlet tubes of the IDG oil cooler to the bracket located between the fan frame and the lubrication unit.
       2 Remove the nuts and the bolts which attach the tube clamp assemblies to the bracket located on the AGB, under the left attachment point.
       3 Remove the nuts and the bolts which attach the clamps of the shutoff valve tubes to the bracket located on the oil tank forward mount.
       4 Remove the nut and the bolt which attach together the clamps to the rear fuel inlet tube of the IDG oil cooler and the oil supply tube of the fuel heater between the servo-fuel heater and the oil tank.
     (c) Remove the fuel outlet tube (180) of the IDG oil cooler as follows:
       1 Remove the four bolts which attach the fuel outlet tube of the IDG oil cooler. Disconnect the tube. Remove and keep the gasket.
       2 Remove the four bolts which attach the other end of the tube to the fuel pump. Disconnect the tube. Remove and keep the gasket.
     (d) Remove the fuel inlet tube (250) of the IDG oil cooler as follows:
       1 Remove the four bolts which attach the forward part of the inlet tube to the IDG oil cooler. Disconnect the tube. Remove and keep the gasket.
       2 Disconnect the coupling nut which attaches the two parts of the tube. Remove the forward tube.
       3 Remove the four bolts which attach the other part of the tube to the servo-fuel heater. Disconnect and remove the tube. Remove and keep the gasket.
     (e) Remove the supply hose (280) from the lubrication unit as follows:
       1 Remove the four bolts from the lubrication unit (260) and keep the gasket.
       2 Disconnect and remove the hose from the oil pump supply tube.
     (f) Disconnect the oil supply hose (270) of the forward sump from the lubrication unit.
     (g) Disconnect the return hose (290) of the oil/fuel heat exchanger from the return tube of the oil tank.
     (h) Remove the oil supply tube from the servo-fuel heater as follows:
       1 Remove the four bolts which attach the rear part of the tube to the servo-fuel heater. Disconnect the tube. Remove and keep the gasket.
       2 Disconnect the coupling nut (340) between the two parts of the tube and remove the rear tube.
       3 Remove the four bolts which attach the forward part of the tube to the lubrication unit. Remove the tube. Remove and keep the gasket.
     (i) Remove the fuel tubes as follows:
       1 Disconnect the fuel hose (330) of the shutoff valve (SOV) from the hydromechanical unit (HMU).
       2 Remove the fuel control tube (PB-PSF) (160) as follows:
         a Disconnect the PB-PSF tube from the SOV fuel tube.
         b Disconnect the PB-PSF tube from the fuel return valve. Remove the tube.
       3 Remove the fuel pump HP tube (PSF) (350) as follows:
         a Disconnect the PSF tube from the heater supply tube.
         b Disconnect the PSF tube from the fuel return valve. Remove the tube.
       4 Remove the fuel pump LP tube (CLP) (300) as follows:
         a Disconnect the CLP tube from the fuel pump.
         b Disconnect the CLP tube from the fuel return valve. Remove the tube.
     (j) Disconnect the oil hoses and tubes as follows:
       1 Disconnect the oil scavenge hose (360) of the forward sump from the accessory gearbox. Remove the four bolts (370) and keep the gasket.
       2 Disconnect the TGB scavenge tube (390) from the AGB housing. Remove the four bolts (380) and keep the gasket.
       3 Disconnect the oil scavenge tube (410) of the aft sump from the AGB housing. Remove the four bolts and keep the gasket.
       4 Disconnect the TGB oil supply hose (400) from the AGB housing.
       5 Remove the oil supply tube (320) from the aft sump as follows:
         a Remove the bolt which attaches the tube clamp assy to the bracket located on the lower face of the fuel pump.
         b Disconnect the oil supply tube (320) from the related tube of the tube bundle and from the AGB housing. Remove the tube.
     (k) Disconnect the fuel hoses as follows:
       1 Disconnect the LPT fuel hose from the hydromechanical unit (HMU).
       2 Disconnect the HPT fuel hose from the HMU.
       3 Disconnect the VSV hoses as follows:
         a Disconnect the VSV ROD (OPEN) hose from the HMU.
         b Disconnect the VSV HEAD (CLOSE) hose from the HMU.
       4 Disconnect the VBV hoses as follows:
         a Disconnect the VBV CLOSE hose from the HMU.
         b Disconnect the VBV OPEN hose from the HMU.
       5 Disconnect the STAGE (BSV) hose from the HMU.
     (l) Disconnect the Pressure Control Return (PCR) hose from the HMU.
     (m) Disconnect the Rotor Active Clearance Control (RACC) hose from the HMU.
     (n) Remove the fuel supply hose from the fuel nozzles as follows:
       1 Remove the bolts which attach the fuel supply hose to the fuel flow transmitter. Discard the O-ring and remove the bracket.
       2 Disconnect the electrical wiring harnesses as follows:
NOTE: You can use a pair of PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG to disconnect the coupling nuts of the electrical cables.
       3 Harness J7 from HMU and N2 Speed Sensor.
       4 Harness J8 from HMU and N2 Speed Sensor.
       5 Harness J9 from Control Alternator.
       6 Harness J10 from Control Alternator.
       7 Harness J13 from Fuel Flow Transmitter.
       8 Remove the bolts which attach the N2 speed sensor harnesses to the bracket.
       9 Remove the bolt which attaches harness J8.
       10 Disconnect the ground wire as follows:
         a Remove the nut, the bolt and the washer which connect the ground wire to the fan flange E of the fan frame.
         b Remove the bolt and the washer which attach the ground wire to the AGB. Remove the ground wire.

C. Installation of the TGB/AGB
F Turnbuckle TGB/AGB ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F AGB Support Fixture ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install the 856A2726 TURNBUCKLE-TGB SUPPORT (G01):
     (a) Engage the supplied lockpin into the rear mount of the TGB.
     (b) Tighten the swivel-head screw with your hand.
     (c) Adjust the length of the lateral stay bars for correct attachment to the external fan frame flange with the two lockpins supplied.
     (d) Tighten the two coupling screws.
   (2) Install the 856A2754G02 FIXTURE, SUPPORT-AGB:
     (a) Install the AGB support fixture on a hydraulic hoist platform.
     (b) Set the hydraulic hoist platform under the AGB module.
     (c) Attach the yokes to the AGB with the lockpins. Adjust the height of the lateral supports with the related screws.
     (d) Install the locating pin in the rear mount of the AGB. Attach the clamp with the knurled nut and adjust the height of the rear support with the related screw.

D. Removal of the AGB External Parts
F Extraction of Mounting Pin ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Removal of Mounting Pins ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Remove the handcranking drive and disengage the horizontal drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-860-002).
   (2) Detach the AGB from the TGB as follows:
     (a) Remove the twelve bolts, twelve nuts and eight washers which attach the AGB and the TGB. Keep the forward lower bracket and side bracket.
   (3) Detach the AGB from the Fan Frame as follows:
     (a) Remove the cotter pins (520 and 560), the nuts (530 and 570) and the washers (540 and 580) from the AGB mounting pins (550 and 590).
     (b) Successively install a 856A2537 PROTECTOR-MOUNTING PIN (G01), on the external threads of the two mounting pins.
     (c) Successively install the puller rod in the tapped hole in the head of the two mounting pins.
     (d) Remove the two mounting pins (550 and 590). Remove the puller rod.
   (4) Separate the AGB from the TGB and the fan frame while you slowly lower the hydraulic hoist platform. Keep the gasket (770).
   (5) Remove and discard the O-ring (790) from the horizontal drive shaft of the AGB.
   (6) Remove the O-ring (790) from the oil distributor in the bevel gear.
NOTE: Make sure that O-ring (790) is serviceable and O-ring outer diameter is correct. If it is not serviceable, remove and discard it with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG.

E. Installation of the handcranking drive
   (1) Install the handcranking drive assy (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-860-002).
Subtask 72-63-00-020-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F. Removal of the TGB from the AGB
F Removal of Lubrication Unit ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Removal of N2 Speed Sensor ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
F Installation of Caps and Plugs ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Remove the control alternator from the AGB as follows:
     (a) Remove the three bolts (680) and three washers (690) which attach the stator (620) to the AGB housing. Remove the stator.
     (b) Loosen the nut (700) with a WRENCH 3/4 IN - RATCHET in the handcranking drive for countertorque.
     (c) Remove the rotor (600) and discard the O-ring (610).
     (d) Remove the ratchet wrench from the handcranking drive.
   (2) Install the handcranking drive cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-400-004), but do not connect the HJ9 harness and the HJ10 harness electrical connectors and do not do the test.
   (3) Remove the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-000-001).
   (4) Remove the N2 speed sensor as follows:
     (a) Remove the two bolts (670) which attach the N2 speed sensor to the AGB rear face and keep the speed sensor.
     (b) Remove and discard the O-ring (660).
   (5) Remove the fuel pump and HMU package as follows:
     (a) Remove the quick attach/detach (QAD) bolt (710) and remove the retaining packing (720). Keep the washer (740).
     (b) Install the QAD bolt in reverse position.
     (c) Install 856A2609 BLOCK,JACKING-FUEL PUMP (G01).
     (d) Tighten the QAD bolt.
CAUTION: DO NOT EXCEED 300 LB IN. (34 N.M) OF TORQUE.
       1 Tighten the QAD bolt until the ring moves enough to disengage the fuel pump and HMU package from the AGB.
     (e) Remove the fuel pump.
CAUTION: DURING REMOVAL, KEEP DRIVE SHAFT PERPENDICULAR TO AGB MOUNTING FLANGE. NEVER ALLOW WEIGHT TO BE TAKEN BY DRIVE SHAFT.
CAUTION: WHEN BACKING OFF THE FUEL PUMP AND HMU PACKAGE, SPREAD THE CABLES AND LINES TO CLEAR THE WAY FOR THE PACKAGE.
       1 Carefully disengage the fuel pump and HMU package.
       2 Disengage the fuel pump drive shaft from the AGB related gearshaft.
       3 Remove the fuel pump and HMU package and discard O-ring (760).
PRE SB CFM 72-0454
       4 Remove seal ring assembly (750) from the QAD ring and keep it if not damaged.
END PRE SB CFM 72-0454.
POST SB CFM 72-0454.
       5 Remove seal ring assembly (750) from the QAD ring.
NOTE: The seal ring assembly has a support (metal ring) and a preformed packing.
If the preformed packing is damaged, do as follows:
  • Remove the preformed packing from the support.
  • Discard the preformed packing.
    END OF SB CFM 72-0454.
       6 Remove the QAD bolt and the 856A2609 BLOCK,JACKING-FUEL PUMP (G01).
       7 Install caps and plugs on the AGB.
   (6) When you remove all equipment from the AGB, apply storage oil on all bearings as follows:
mix 7 percent of corrosion protective additive (Material No.CP5075) with 93 percent of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) and lightly coat all bearings with a PIPETTE.
Subtask 72-63-00-080-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
G. Remove the AGB from the Support Fixture.
   (1) Install the 856A3519 SLING LIFT AGB (G01) or (G02) on the AGB as follows:
     (a) Attach two legs of the sling to the AGB mounting lugs with the two lockpins supplied.
     (b) Attach a hoist to the sling and apply a slight tension to the hoist.
   (2) Detach the AGB from the 856A2754G02 FIXTURE, SUPPORT-AGB. For this, remove the two lateral lockpins and the clamp attached to the rest mount of the AGB.
   (3) Store the AGB in a shipping container and remove the sling.
   (4) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
