A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-62-42-420-050-A
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
A. Installation of the Transfer Gearbox (TGB) Assembly
   (1) Put the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the TGB assembly (1).
   (2) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (3) Make sure that the mating faces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (4) If necessary, install the slider (20) on the TGB assembly (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-43-400-801).
   (5) Installation of the TGB assembly:
WARNING: A MINIMUM OF TWO PERSONS ARE NECESSARY TO HOLD AND MOVE THE TRANSFER GEARBOX ASSEMBLY DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE. THE WEIGHT OF THE TRANSFER GEARBOX ASSEMBLY IS APPROXIMATELY 36.4 LB (16.5 KG). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: MOVE THE TRANSFER GEARBOX ASSEMBLY SLOWLY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT AND THE GEARBOX. THE TRANSFER GEARBOX ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE TRANSFER GEARBOX ASSEMBLY ON THE OUTER RADIAL SHAFT, LUBRICATE THE INNER DIAMETER OF THE SHAFT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE O-RING CAN BECOME DISENGAGED FROM ITS GROOVE DURING THE INSTALLATION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SPLINES OF THE BEVEL GEAR SHAFT OF THE TRANSFER-GEARBOX ASSEMBLY.
   (6) Lubricate the TGB assembly radial-shaft (outer) (18) inner-diameter with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) or engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (7) Lubricate the threads of the six bolts (16) and four bolts (14) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (8) Lubricate the new EIPC 72-00-01-01-460 O-RING (19) and the new EIPC 72-00-01-01-470 O-RING (21) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (9) Install the new O-ring (21) in the groove of the shaft (23).
   (10) Install the new O-ring (19) in the groove of the TGB assembly (1).
NOTE: If necessary, detwist the O-rings with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC.
   (11) Connect the TGB assembly (1) to the radial shaft (outer) (18).
NOTE: If necessary, turn the horizontal TGB bevel-gear-shaft to align the bevel gear-shaft (23) splines with the TGB assembly radial-shaft (outer) (18) splines.
   (12) Install the TGB assembly (1) in the correct position on the TGB mount (15).
   (13) Install the six bolts (16) and six washers (17) to attach the TGB assembly (1) to the TGB mount (15).
   (14) Tighten the six bolts (16) with your hand.
CAUTION: YOU MUST TORQUE THE BOLTS GRADUALLY IN A CRISS-CROSS SEQUENCE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THERE IS A RISK OF OIL LEAKAGE.
   (15) TORQUE the six bolts (16) in a criss cross pattern to between 417 and 380 lbf.in (4.71 and 4.29 m.daN ) T.
   (16) Install the TGB transfer shaft (11) (
Ref. AMM TASK 72-62-41-400-801).
   (17) Lubricate the new EIPC 72-62-00-01-010 BALL JOINT SEAL (22) with a vaseline (Material No.CP5070) or an engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (18) Install the ball joint seal (22) in the groove of the slider (20).
NOTE: If necessary, detwist the ball joint seal with a SPATULA - NON METALLIC.
   (19) Install the 956A7606 FIXTURE, REMOVE/INSTALL - TGB SLIDE on the TGB assembly (1).
   (20) Move forward the slider (20) in position into the Accessory Gearbox (AGB) recess (12).
   (21) Remove the 956A7606 FIXTURE, REMOVE/INSTALL - TGB SLIDE from the TGB assembly (1).
   (22) Install the two retainer segments (13) in correct position.
   (23) Install the four bolts (14) to attach the TGB assembly (1) to the AGB (12) and tighten them with your hand.
   (24) TORQUE the four bolts (14) to between 101.85 and 92.15 lbf.in (1.15 and 1.04 m.daN ) T.
   (25) Installation of the heat-shield blanket (9):
     (a) Install the heat-shield blanket (9) in the correct position.
     (b) Install the three pins (10) to lock the heat-shield blanket (9).
   (26) Connection of the oil tube (6) to the TGB assembly (1):
     (a) Lubricate the union (8) with an engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) .
     (b) Connect the oil tube (6) to the union (8) of the TGB assembly (1).
     (c) TORQUE the coupling nut (7) to between 310 and 270 lbf.in (3.50 and 3.05 m.daN ) T.
   (27) Connection of the oil tube (3) to the TGB assembly (1):
     (a) Lubricate the union (5) with an engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) .
     (b) Connect the oil tube (3) to the union (5) of the TGB assembly (1).
CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE TUBE COUPLING NUT. ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION AND ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE HARDWARE.
     (c) TORQUE the coupling nut (4) to between 750 and 660 lbf.in (8.48 and 7.46 m.daN ) T.
   (28) Install N2 sensor (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 77-11-10-400-802).
   (29) Remove the CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) from below the TGB assembly (1).
5. Close-up

   (1) Do the idle leak check (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-710-815).
   (2) Do a check of the oil level (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-79-610-805).
   (3) Do a 70 percent N1 leak check. (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-790-809)

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
