A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

Subtask 72-62-00-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove TGB external parts as follows:
(1) Intall a CONTAINER 15 L - SHALLOW under the TGB to catch residual fluid draining from tubes and control.
(2) Remove oil drain plug (20) from the front face of the TGB and collect the oil from the TGB housing. Reinstall the plug, and tighten by hand.
(3) Remove the 4 bolts (110) which attach the TGB scavenge tube (170) to the TGB housing (120) left-hand side.
(4) Remove and retain gasket (90) located between TGB housing (120) and TGB scavenge tube flange.
(5) Remove the 4 bolts (230) which attach the oil tank vent tube (220) assembly to the TGB housing (130).
(6) Remove and keep gasket (240) located between the oil tank vent tube (220) flange and the TGB housing (120).
(7) Loosen the union nut:

(8) Remove the two bolts (290) which attach the right-hand rear bracket (270) to the right side of the TGB housing (120).
POST SB 72-169
(9) Remove the two bolts (290) which attach the right-hand rear bracket (270) and the bleed bias bracket (280) to the right side of the TGB housing (120).
(10) Remove the two bolts (360) which attach the bracket (60) to the rear face of the TGB housing (120).
(11) Remove the two bolts (50 and 40) which attach the upper left-hand bracket (30) to the left-hand and rear side of TGB housing (120).
(12) Remove the bolt (70) which attaches the lower left-hand bracket (80) on the left side of the TGB housing (120).
(13) Remove the bolt (300) which attaches the forward bracket (260) to the right side of the TGB housing (120).

Subtask 72-62-00-480-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Intall a CONTAINER 15 L - SHALLOW under the TGB to catch residual fluid draining from tubes and control.

(5) Remove the 4 bolts (230) which attach the oil tank vent tube (220) assembly to the TGB housing (130).
(6) Remove and keep gasket (240) located between the oil tank vent tube (220) flange and the TGB housing (120).
(7) Loosen the union nut:
CAUTION:
USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
(a) Loosen the union nut (100) which attaches the TGB oil supply tube (180) to the TGB housing (120). - ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
- ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.

(8) Remove the two bolts (290) which attach the right-hand rear bracket (270) to the right side of the TGB housing (120).
POST SB 72-169
(9) Remove the two bolts (290) which attach the right-hand rear bracket (270) and the bleed bias bracket (280) to the right side of the TGB housing (120).
(10) Remove the two bolts (360) which attach the bracket (60) to the rear face of the TGB housing (120).
(11) Remove the two bolts (50 and 40) which attach the upper left-hand bracket (30) to the left-hand and rear side of TGB housing (120).
(12) Remove the bolt (70) which attaches the lower left-hand bracket (80) on the left side of the TGB housing (120).
(13) Remove the bolt (300) which attaches the forward bracket (260) to the right side of the TGB housing (120).

B. Installation of support equipments:
(1) Install the 856A2805 TURNBUCKLE-TGB R/I as follows:
(b) Remove bolt and nut from hole No. 47 on flange G.
(c) Install the TGB turnbuckle yoke on the flange G of the fan inlet case and attach it with the 2 lockpins supplied.
(d) Adjust the height of the tool, using coupling screw, to obtain the exact position of the baseplate on the AGB rear flange.
(e) Attach the TGB turnbuckle to the AGB housing with the screws and washers.
(f) Tighten the coupling screw by hand to lock the AGB in relation to the fan frame.
(2) Install the 856A2719 FIXTURE,SUPPORT-TGB R/I as follows:
(a) Install the TGB removal/installation support on a hydraulic hoist platform.
(b) Install the hydraulic hoist platform under the TGB module.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts (350), the nuts (330) and the washers (340) which attach the TGB housing to the horizontal drive shaft housing at the 4:30 and 7:30 o'clock positions.
(d) Operate the hoist platform and adjust the rear yoke of the TGB support with the TGB rear mount until you can install the lockpin.
(e) Adjust the 2 front plates of the tool, and engage the 2 lockpins in the 4:30 and 7:30 o'clock position holes of the TGB forward flange.
(f) Remove bolts:
Subtask 72-62-00-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the 856A2805 TURNBUCKLE-TGB R/I as follows:
NOTE: To prevent the AGB rotation during the TGB removal it is necessary to install the TGB turnbuckle.
(a) Remove the pneumatic starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001). (b) Remove bolt and nut from hole No. 47 on flange G.
(c) Install the TGB turnbuckle yoke on the flange G of the fan inlet case and attach it with the 2 lockpins supplied.
(d) Adjust the height of the tool, using coupling screw, to obtain the exact position of the baseplate on the AGB rear flange.
(e) Attach the TGB turnbuckle to the AGB housing with the screws and washers.
(f) Tighten the coupling screw by hand to lock the AGB in relation to the fan frame.
(2) Install the 856A2719 FIXTURE,SUPPORT-TGB R/I as follows:
(a) Install the TGB removal/installation support on a hydraulic hoist platform.
(b) Install the hydraulic hoist platform under the TGB module.
(c) Remove the 2 bolts (350), the nuts (330) and the washers (340) which attach the TGB housing to the horizontal drive shaft housing at the 4:30 and 7:30 o'clock positions.
(d) Operate the hoist platform and adjust the rear yoke of the TGB support with the TGB rear mount until you can install the lockpin.
(e) Adjust the 2 front plates of the tool, and engage the 2 lockpins in the 4:30 and 7:30 o'clock position holes of the TGB forward flange.
(f) Remove bolts:
CAUTION:
DO NOT REMOVE THE 3 BOLTS, NUTS AND WASHERS INSTALLED IN THE HOLES FITTED WITH FLANGED BUSHINGS.
1 Remove the 7 bolts (190), nuts (210) and washers (200) which attach the TGB housing with the LH support bracket to the horizontal drive shaft housing. C. Removal of the TGB
(1) Remove the handcranking cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-000-004).
(2) Remove the handcranking drive and disengage the horizontal drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-860-002).
(3) Remove the 3 remaining bolts (160), nuts (130) and washers (140) which attach the AGB with the forward brackets (150) and (250) to the TGB.
(4) Removal of the TGB from the fan frame.
(a) Remove the cotter pin (370), nut (380) and washer (390) from the TGB mounting pin (400).
(b) Install the 856A2537 PROTECTOR-MOUNTING PIN on the external threads of the mounting pin (400).
(c) Install the impact puller into the tapped head of the mounting pin (400).
(d) Remove the mounting pin (400). Remove the impact puller from the mounting pin.
(e) Use a hydraulic hoist platform to slowly lower the TGB and fixture assembly, and separate the TGB from the fan frame.
(f) Keep the gasket (410) located between the AGB and the TGB.
(g) Remove and discard the O-ring (420) on the horizontal drive shaft.
(h) Remove the O-ring (430) on the oil distributor in the bevel gear.
(j) Two different conditions can occur after the removal of the TGB:
1 If the radial drive shaft (440) comes with the TGB, remove the shaft from TGB and perform step (k).
2 If the radial drive shaft (440) remains in the fan frame do as follows:
a Screw the 856A2727 PULLER RADIAL DRIVE SHAFT into the radial drive shaft.
b Screw the HAMMER SNAP-ON CG240-9 - SLIDE, PULLER into the puller.
c Remove the radial drive shaft from the fan frame.
(k) Remove and discard the O-ring (450) located in the groove at the lower side of the shaft.
(l) Store the radial drive shaft into its storage tube assembly.
Subtask 72-62-00-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the handcranking cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-000-004).
(2) Remove the handcranking drive and disengage the horizontal drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-860-002).
(3) Remove the 3 remaining bolts (160), nuts (130) and washers (140) which attach the AGB with the forward brackets (150) and (250) to the TGB.
(4) Removal of the TGB from the fan frame.
(a) Remove the cotter pin (370), nut (380) and washer (390) from the TGB mounting pin (400).
(b) Install the 856A2537 PROTECTOR-MOUNTING PIN on the external threads of the mounting pin (400).
(c) Install the impact puller into the tapped head of the mounting pin (400).
(d) Remove the mounting pin (400). Remove the impact puller from the mounting pin.
(e) Use a hydraulic hoist platform to slowly lower the TGB and fixture assembly, and separate the TGB from the fan frame.
(f) Keep the gasket (410) located between the AGB and the TGB.
(g) Remove and discard the O-ring (420) on the horizontal drive shaft.
(h) Remove the O-ring (430) on the oil distributor in the bevel gear.
NOTE: Make sure that O-ring (430) is serviceable and O-ring outer diameter is correct. If it is not serviceable, remove and discard it with PLIERS - NOSE, SOFT, LONG
(i) Remove and discard the seal ring. (j) Two different conditions can occur after the removal of the TGB:
1 If the radial drive shaft (440) comes with the TGB, remove the shaft from TGB and perform step (k).
2 If the radial drive shaft (440) remains in the fan frame do as follows:
a Screw the 856A2727 PULLER RADIAL DRIVE SHAFT into the radial drive shaft.
b Screw the HAMMER SNAP-ON CG240-9 - SLIDE, PULLER into the puller.
c Remove the radial drive shaft from the fan frame.
(k) Remove and discard the O-ring (450) located in the groove at the lower side of the shaft.
(l) Store the radial drive shaft into its storage tube assembly.
D. Installation of AIPC 79-00-00-20-330 BLANKING KIT (90) on TGB housing ports and tubes.
(1) Install the cover (510) on the forward face of the TGB housing.
(2) Install the cover (470) on the upper face of the TGB housing.
(3) Install the plug (500) on the vent tube of the TGB housing.
(4) Install the plug (490) on the scavenge tube port of the TGB housing.
(5) Install the cap (480) on the nipple of the TGB oil supply tube.
(6) Install a cover on the aft end of the AGB horizontal drive shaft housing (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-000-001).
(7) Install PLUG - BLANKING on the open tube ends.
(8) Install protective items of assembly (460) on radial drive shaft. Install shaft in the protective tube and install covers.
Subtask 72-62-00-410-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the cover (510) on the forward face of the TGB housing.
(2) Install the cover (470) on the upper face of the TGB housing.
(3) Install the plug (500) on the vent tube of the TGB housing.
(4) Install the plug (490) on the scavenge tube port of the TGB housing.
(5) Install the cap (480) on the nipple of the TGB oil supply tube.
(6) Install a cover on the aft end of the AGB horizontal drive shaft housing (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-000-001).
(7) Install PLUG - BLANKING on the open tube ends.
(8) Install protective items of assembly (460) on radial drive shaft. Install shaft in the protective tube and install covers.
E. Installation of the handcranking assembly:
(2) Install the handcranking drive cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-400-004).
Subtask 72-62-00-080-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: You can omit this step if the TGB is immediately replaced.
(1) Engage the horizontal drive shaft (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-860-002). (2) Install the handcranking drive cover (Ref. AMM TASK 72-63-00-400-004).
NOTE: Do not replace O-rings. New O-rings will be installed after re-installation of TGB.
F. Removal of the TGB from the support tool.
(1) Hold the TGB and remove the rear lockpin of 856A2719 FIXTURE,SUPPORT-TGB R/I.
(2) Disengage the TGB from the support and place the TGB in a CONTAINER - STORAGE.
(1) Hold the TGB and remove the rear lockpin of 856A2719 FIXTURE,SUPPORT-TGB R/I.
(2) Disengage the TGB from the support and place the TGB in a CONTAINER - STORAGE.
