3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-23-00-010-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. For minor repair on leading edge, blending can be performed on wing. For extensive repair, remove OGV (Ref. AMM TASK 72-23-00-000-001).

B. Check for dimensions and location of defects on both edges and compare with repair limits.

C. Perform blending of defects using a FILE - SMOOTH or a STONE - SILICON CARBIDE ABRASIVE, GRADE C150L8V used dry. For major blend repairs, use strips of durite G422 (Material No.CP2189) for prefinishing or durite G422 (Material No.CP2189) or durite G421 (Material No.CP2191) for blend finishing.
NOTE: Blending and polishing must be span wise, and parallel to the length of the blade.
NOTE: The finish on blended areas must be as close as practical to the original finish.
   (1) Remove a minimum of 0.01 in. (0.2 mm) of base metal in addition to depth of defect.
NOTE: Reworked contour must conform to original contour.

D. Clean OGV using isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) .

E. Fluorescent inspect blended area for cracks (Ref. AMM TASK 70-51-00-230-001). No crack is allowed.
   (1) If necessary, repeat blending and inspection until no crack is detected.

F. Touch up sulfuric anodizing using alodine 1200 (Material No.CP2034) .
