WARNING:
DO NOT LET TITANIUM DUST COLLECT. DISCARD ALL TITANIUM WASTE IN AN APPROVED CONTAINER. TITANIUM DUST IS EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE.
WARNING:
DO NOT USE WATER TO EXTINGUISH A TITANIUM FIRE. EXTINGUISH WITH AN APPROVED CHEMICAL FOR METAL FIRES.
CAUTION:
DO NOT BLEND TITANIUM PARTS WITH TOOLS (SUCH AS GRINDING WHEELS, FILES, STONES OR ABRASIVE CLOTH) USED TO REPAIR OTHER MATERIALS.
Subtask 72-21-00-210-076-A A. Do the count of the number of airfoils that are blended.
(1) Make sure that a maximum of 6 vanes are blended for all the stage.
(a) If there are already 6 blended vanes, then the part is not repairable.
(b) If there are less than 6 blended blades, then the part is repairable, but make sure not to exceed 6 blended vanes.
Subtask 72-21-00-220-065-A (1) Make sure that a maximum of 6 vanes are blended for all the stage.
(a) If there are already 6 blended vanes, then the part is not repairable.
(b) If there are less than 6 blended blades, then the part is repairable, but make sure not to exceed 6 blended vanes.
B. Do a check for dimensions and location of defects on the Leading Edge (LE).
(1) Make sure you compare the dimensions and location of defects on the LE and compare with repair limits.
Table 1 - Dimensional Limits
(2) If the damage or repair area is more than the limits, the part is not repairable by this procedure.
Subtask 72-21-00-320-069-A (1) Make sure you compare the dimensions and location of defects on the LE and compare with repair limits.
