Removal of the Fan Blades
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING:
TWO PERSONS ARE NECESSARY TO DO THIS PROCEDURE. ONE PERSON MUST HOLD THE FAN WHILE THE OTHER REMOVES THE FAN BLADES. IF THE FAN TURNS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURIES.

WHEN YOU DO WORK WITH COMPOSITE MATERIALS, USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT AND A LOCAL MECHANICAL EXHAUST VENTILATION OR AN APPROVED RESPIRATOR. YOU MUST NOT BREATHE THE PARTICLES FROM THE REPAIR OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS OR LET THE PARTICLES TOUCH YOU. THE PARTICLES CAN CAUSE INJURY OR IRRITATION TO YOU, AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
(4) Install the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL in the inlet cowl.
4. Procedure(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
- The ENG/MODE selector switch
- The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
(4) Install the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL in the inlet cowl.

A. Removal of the Fan Blade (1)
(1) Put marks on the upper surface of the leading edge of the 18 fan blades (1):
(a) Find the fan blade No. 1 (1).
(c) Number the remaining fan blades (1) in the same counterclockwise direction from fan blade No. 2 to fan blade No. 18.
(3) Remove the platform front shroud (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-60-000-801).
(4) Remove the 18 fan blade platforms (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-42-000-801).
(5) Remove the 18 barrel nuts (8) from the fan disk (7).
(6) Put the fan blade at the 6 o'clock position to release the pressure on the spacers.
(7) Remove the spacer No. 1 (6) from the fan blade No. 1 (1) with the 956A6063 FIXTURE, REMOVE - SPACER, FAN DISK.
(8) Remove the fan blade lock No. 1 (5) from the fan disk (7).
(9) Turn the fan rotor to put the fan blade No. 1 (1) at the 12 o'clock position.
(10) Remove the fan blade No. 1 (1) from the fan disk (7).
(11) Install the fan blade No. 1 (1) on the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(12) Remove the remaining 17 fan blades (1) as follows:
(a) Put the fan blade at the 6 o'clock position to release the pressure on the spacers.
(b) Remove the spacer (6) from the fan blade (1).
(c) Remove the fan blade lock (5) from the fan disk (7).
(d) Turn the fan rotor to put the fan blade (1) at the 12 o'clock position.
(e) Remove the fan blade (1) from the fan disk (7).
(f) Install the fan blade (1) on the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(13) Do an inspection of the fan blades (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-210-802).
(14) Make sure that the 18 fan disk shields (9) are in position on the fan disk (7).
(1) Put marks on the upper surface of the leading edge of the 18 fan blades (1):
(a) Find the fan blade No. 1 (1).
NOTE: The fan blade No. 1 is immediately above the identification mark of the face on the platform front shroud (3).
NOTE: The number 1 engraved on each side of the slot identifies the fan disk slot No. 1.
(b) Use temporary marking (Material No.CP5061) to put the mark and identify it as the fan blade No. 1 (1). (c) Number the remaining fan blades (1) in the same counterclockwise direction from fan blade No. 2 to fan blade No. 18.
NOTE: This is counterclockwise when you look at the front of the engine.
(2) Remove the front spinner (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-000-801). (3) Remove the platform front shroud (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-60-000-801).
(4) Remove the 18 fan blade platforms (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-42-000-801).
(5) Remove the 18 barrel nuts (8) from the fan disk (7).
(6) Put the fan blade at the 6 o'clock position to release the pressure on the spacers.
(7) Remove the spacer No. 1 (6) from the fan blade No. 1 (1) with the 956A6063 FIXTURE, REMOVE - SPACER, FAN DISK.
(8) Remove the fan blade lock No. 1 (5) from the fan disk (7).
(9) Turn the fan rotor to put the fan blade No. 1 (1) at the 12 o'clock position.
(10) Remove the fan blade No. 1 (1) from the fan disk (7).
(11) Install the fan blade No. 1 (1) on the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(12) Remove the remaining 17 fan blades (1) as follows:
(a) Put the fan blade at the 6 o'clock position to release the pressure on the spacers.
(b) Remove the spacer (6) from the fan blade (1).
(c) Remove the fan blade lock (5) from the fan disk (7).
(d) Turn the fan rotor to put the fan blade (1) at the 12 o'clock position.
(e) Remove the fan blade (1) from the fan disk (7).
(f) Install the fan blade (1) on the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(13) Do an inspection of the fan blades (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-210-802).
(14) Make sure that the 18 fan disk shields (9) are in position on the fan disk (7).
