Installation of the Fan Blades
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

Subtask 72-21-20-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
(4) Make sure that the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL is in position in the inlet cowl.
(5) Do the inspection of the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-210-802).
4. Procedure(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
- The ENG/MODE selector switch
- The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
(4) Make sure that the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL is in position in the inlet cowl.
(5) Do the inspection of the fan blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-210-802).
NOTE: If you install the blades that are new or that come from repair or overhaul the inspection is not necessary.
Subtask 72-21-20-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Fan Blades (1)
(1) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(2) Make sure that the 18 fan disk shields (9) are in position on the fan disk (7).
(3) Turn the fan rotor to put the dovetail slot of the fan blade No. 1 (1) at the 6 o'clock position.
(5) Remove the fan blade No. 1 (1) from the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(6) Engage the dovetail of the fan blade No. 1 (1) on the dovetail slot No. 1 of the fan disk (7).
(7) Engage the fan blade lock No. 1 (5) on the fan disk (7).
(8) Engage the spacer No. 1 (6) on the dovetail slot No. 1 between the fan blade No. 1 (1) and fan disk (7) with the MALLET - SOFT FACE.
(a) Turn the fan rotor to put the dovetail slot of the fan blade No. 2 (1) at the 6 o'clock position.
(b) Put the dovetail slot at the 6 o'clock position to release the pressure on the spacers.
(c) Remove the fan blade No. 2 (1) from the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(d) Engage the dovetail of the fan blade No. 2 (1) on the dovetail slot of the fan disk (7).
(e) Engage the fan blade lock (5) on the fan disk (7).
(f) Engage the spacer (6) on the dovetail slot between the fan blade No. 2 (1) and fan disk (7) with the 956A6063 FIXTURE, REMOVE - SPACER, FAN DISK.
(11) Install the 18 barrel nuts (8) on the fan disk (7).
(12) Make sure that the 18 barrel nuts (8) are in the correct positions on the fan disk (7) with the 956A6071G01 KEY, POSITIONER - FAN DISK BARREL NUT.
(13) Install the 18 fan blade platforms (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-42-400-801).
(14) Make sure that the 18 blades locks (5) and spacers (6) are installed.
(15) Install the platform front shroud (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-60-400-801).
(16) Install the front spinner (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-400-801).
5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(2) Make sure that the 18 fan disk shields (9) are in position on the fan disk (7).
(3) Turn the fan rotor to put the dovetail slot of the fan blade No. 1 (1) at the 6 o'clock position.
NOTE: The number 1 engraved on each side of the slot identifies the fan disk slot No. 1.
(4) Put the dovetail slot at the 6 o'clock position to release the pressure on the spacers. (5) Remove the fan blade No. 1 (1) from the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(6) Engage the dovetail of the fan blade No. 1 (1) on the dovetail slot No. 1 of the fan disk (7).
(7) Engage the fan blade lock No. 1 (5) on the fan disk (7).
(8) Engage the spacer No. 1 (6) on the dovetail slot No. 1 between the fan blade No. 1 (1) and fan disk (7) with the MALLET - SOFT FACE.
NOTE: Use a rubber mallet if necessary.
(9) Install the remaining 17 fan blades (1) as follows: (a) Turn the fan rotor to put the dovetail slot of the fan blade No. 2 (1) at the 6 o'clock position.
(b) Put the dovetail slot at the 6 o'clock position to release the pressure on the spacers.
(c) Remove the fan blade No. 2 (1) from the 956A6092 DOLLY, STORAGE - FAN BLADES.
(d) Engage the dovetail of the fan blade No. 2 (1) on the dovetail slot of the fan disk (7).
(e) Engage the fan blade lock (5) on the fan disk (7).
(f) Engage the spacer (6) on the dovetail slot between the fan blade No. 2 (1) and fan disk (7) with the 956A6063 FIXTURE, REMOVE - SPACER, FAN DISK.
NOTE: Use a rubber mallet if necessary.
(10) Install the remaining 16 fan blades (1) following the above steps. (11) Install the 18 barrel nuts (8) on the fan disk (7).
(12) Make sure that the 18 barrel nuts (8) are in the correct positions on the fan disk (7) with the 956A6071G01 KEY, POSITIONER - FAN DISK BARREL NUT.
(13) Install the 18 fan blade platforms (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-42-400-801).
(14) Make sure that the 18 blades locks (5) and spacers (6) are installed.
(15) Install the platform front shroud (3) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-60-400-801).
(16) Install the front spinner (2) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-400-801).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL from the inlet cowl.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
