Installation of the Fan Blade Platform


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-21-42-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

A. Installation of the 18 Fan Blade Platforms
WARNING: WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE FAN BLADE PLATFORM, BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE T12 SENSOR. IF YOU DO, THE T12 SENSOR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
   (1) Make sure that the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL is in position on the inlet cowl.
   (2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (3) Install the fan blade platform No. 18 at the left of the fan blade No. 18.
NOTE: The fan blade platform No. 18 is immediately at the left of the fan blade No. 18 when it is at the 6 o'clock position.
   (4) PRE SB 72-0080
Install the fan blade platform (2) in its position on the fan disk (3).
     (a) Engage the fan blade platform (2) between two fan blades.
     (b) Put the fan blade platform (2) end in the downstream of the booster spool (4).
     (c) Put the fan blade platform (2) opposite end on the fan disk (3).

   (5) POST SB 72-0080
Install the fan blade platform (2) in its position on the fan disk (3).
     (a) Engage the fan blade platform (2) between two fan blades.
     (b) Put the fan blade platform (2) end in the recess of the rotating ring spacer (5).
     (c) Put the fan blade platform (2) opposite end on the fan disk (3).

   (6) Install the remaining fan blade platforms (2).
   (7) Install the platform front shroud (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-60-400-801).
5. Close-up

A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL from the inlet cowl.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
