3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-21-60-941-051-A

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:

The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.

(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

4. Procedure

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD. THE FAN BLADE PLATFORMS CAN FALL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT OR INJURY TO THE PERSONNEL.

Subtask 72-21-60-420-050-A

A. Installation of the Platform Front Shroud
(1) Make sure that the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL (3) is installed on the inlet cowl.
(2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
(a) Lubricate the threads of the 18 bolts (7) with the graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
(3) Install the 18 floating barrel retainers (11) on the 18 self-locking barrel nuts (10).
(4) Install the 18 equipped self-locking barrel nuts (10) on the fan disk (5).
(5) Check the correct position of the 18 equipped self-locking barrel nuts (10) with the 956A6071G01 KEY, POSITIONER - FAN DISK BARREL NUT (12).
(6) Lubricate the new silicone EIPC 72-00-01-54-085 O-RING (8) with vaseline (Material No.CP5070) .
(7) Install the silicone O-ring (8) in the groove of the fan blade platforms (4).
(8) Install the 956A6067 SET, GUIDE PIN - PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD (13) on the fan disk (5).
(9) Install the 956A6090G02 FIXTURE, REMOVE - PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD (6) on the platform front shroud (1).

NOTE: The tool shall not be installed into the offset hole.

(10) Install the platform front shroud (1) in the correct position on the fan disk (5).
(11) Install the six 956A8675 FIXTURE, INSTALL - PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD (14) on the platform front shroud (1).
(12) Remove the 956A6090G02 FIXTURE, REMOVE - PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD (6) from the platform front shroud (1).
(13) Install the platform front shroud (1) in correct position with the six 956A8675 FIXTURE, INSTALL - PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD (14) to manage the platform position.
(14) Remove the 956A6067 SET, GUIDE PIN - PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD (13) from the fan disk (5).
(15) Install the 12 bolts (7) to attach the platform front shroud (1) on the fan disk (5) and tighten by hand.
(16) Remove the six 956A8675 FIXTURE, INSTALL - PLATFORM FRONT SHROUD (14) from the platform front shroud (1).
(17) Install the six bolts (7) to attach the platform front shroud (1) on the fan disk (5) and tighten by hand.
(18) TORQUE the 18 bolts (7) to between 120.7 and 109.4 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )

B. Installation of the Front Spinner
(1) Install the Front Spinner (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-40-400-801).

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
