Installation of the Front Spinner


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 72-21-40-941-051-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
   (4) Remove the COVER - PROTECTION from the platform front shroud (2).
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-21-40-420-050-A
A. Installation of the Front Spinner (1)
WARNING: WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE FRONT SPINNER, BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE T12 SENSOR. IF YOU DO, THE T12 SENSOR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
   (1) Install the 956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL in the inlet cowl.
   (2) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (3) Lubricate the threads of the nine screws (3) with the graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (4) Install the 956A7617 FIXTURE, REMOVAL/INSTALL - FRONT SPINNER on the front spinner (1).
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO LET THE FRONT SPINNER FALL WHEN YOU INSTALL THE SCREWS. DAMAGE TO THE FRONT SPINNER CAN OCCUR.
   (5) Install the front spinner (1) in the correct position on the platform front shroud (2).

   (6) Install the six screws (3) and the six washers (4) that attach the front spinner (1) to the platform front shroud (2).

   (7) Install the six screws (3) with captive cups that attach the front spinner (1) to the platform front shroud (2).

   (8) Remove the 956A7617 FIXTURE, REMOVAL/INSTALL - FRONT SPINNER from the front spinner (1).

PRE SB 72-0089

   (9) Install the three remaining screws (3) and the three remaining washers (4) at the 12:00 o'clock, the 4:00 o'clock and the 8:00 o'clock positions that attach the front spinner (1) to the platform front shroud (2).

   (10) Install the three remaining screws (3) with captive cups at the 12:00 o'clock, the 4:00 o'clock and the 8:00 o'clock positions that attach the front spinner (1) to the platform front shroud (2).

   (11) TORQUE the nine screws (3) to between 74.55 and 67.45 lbf.in (0.84 and 0.76 m.daN ) T.
   (12) Remove the
956A7616 MAT, PROTECTION - INLET COWL from the inlet cowl.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE.
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
