A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch,
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-21-21-420-050-A
A. Installation of the LPC Stage 1 IGV
   (1) Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and clear of unwanted materials.
   (2) Install the LPC stage 1 IGV (1) in the correct position on the stage 2 booster vane assembly (3).
   (3) Align the holes of the LPC stage 1 IGV (1) and the stage 2 booster vane assembly (3).
   (4) Install the 10 slave bolts (4) equally distributed in the holes of the LPC stage 1 IGV (1) on the stage 2 booster vane assembly (3).
   (5) Lubricate the nuts:
WARNING: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
     (a) Lubricate 10 slave nuts (5) with the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (6) Install the 10 slave nuts (5) to attach the LPC stage 1 IGV (1) on the stage 2 booster vane assembly (3).
   (7) Tighten the 10 slave nuts (5) until the flanges of the LPC stage 1 IGV (1) and the stage 2 booster vane assembly (3) are in contact.
   (8) Make sure that the flanges of the LPC stage 1 IGV (1) and the stage 2 booster vane assembly (3) are not bent.
   (9) Lubricate the threads of the three bolts (4) with the graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
   (10) Install the three bolts (4) and the three nuts (5) to attach the LPC stage 1 IGV (1) on the stage 2 booster vane assembly (3) and tighten by hand.
   (11) Torque the three bolts (4) to between 51.11 and 46.25 lbf.in (0.58 and 0.52 m.daN ) T.
   (12) Loosen the 10 slave nuts (5) and remove the 10 slave bolts (4).
   (13) Install the flow splitter (2) (
Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-02-400-802).

   (14) Install the ring rotating spacer (Ref. AMM D/O 72-21-25-40).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
