A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
(4) Install the MAT - PROTECTIVE in the lower half of the inlet cowl.
Subtask 72-21-00-010-077-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
- The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
- The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
B. Get Access
(1) Remove the fan rotor blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-000-801).
(3) Remove the stage-1-booster inlet guide-vane (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-21-000-801).
4. Procedure(1) Remove the fan rotor blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-20-000-801).
NOTE: Make sure that you number each blade while you remove it. This will help to make sure that each blade is installed in its initial position.
(2) Remove the flow splitter (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-02-000-802). (3) Remove the stage-1-booster inlet guide-vane (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-21-000-801).
WARNING:
DO NOT LET TITANIUM DUST COLLECT. DISCARD ALL TITANIUM WASTE IN AN APPROVED CONTAINER. TITANIUM DUST IS EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE.
WARNING:
DO NOT USE WATER TO EXTINGUISH A TITANIUM FIRE. EXTINGUISH WITH AN APPROVED CHEMICAL FOR METAL FIRES.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE TOOLS OR CONSUMABLE PRODUCTS THAT WERE USED TO BLEND MATERIALS OTHER THAN TITANIUM, BECAUSE TITANIUM IS EASILY CONTAMINATED.
Subtask 72-21-00-210-074-A A. Do the count of the number of the blended vanes:
(1) Make sure that a maximum of 6 vanes are blended for stage 2.
(a) If there are six or more blended vanes, then the part is not repairable.
(b) If there are less than six blended blades, then the part is repairable.
1 Make sure not to exceed six blended vanes.
Subtask 72-21-00-220-061-A (1) Make sure that a maximum of 6 vanes are blended for stage 2.
(a) If there are six or more blended vanes, then the part is not repairable.
(b) If there are less than six blended blades, then the part is repairable.
1 Make sure not to exceed six blended vanes.
B. Do a check for dimensions and location of defects on the leading edge:
(1) Make sure you compare the dimensions and location of defects on the leading edge with repair limits.
Table 1 - Dimensional Limits
(2) If the damage or repair area is more than the limits, the part is not repairable.
Subtask 72-21-00-320-058-A (1) Make sure you compare the dimensions and location of defects on the leading edge with repair limits.
NOTE: The dimensional data identified within this procedure was designed using millimeters as the base unit of measurement for dimensional values. The conversion to inches is rounded to two additional decimal digits than millimeters. For minimum dimensions, converted values are rounded up. For maximum dimensions, converted values are rounded down. To avoid conversion errors, do not re-convert from inches to millimeters.
