   (4) Measure the distance between the surface of the oil tank access door and the surface of the buttons on the oil tank access door latches.
   (5) Make sure that the two surfaces are flush within 0.025 in. (0.63 mm) of each other.
   (6) Remove the two oil tank access door latches and the attaching fasteners.
   (7) If the distance between the surfaces that you measured at step 4.A.(4) is more than 0.025 in. (0.63 mm), install a shim on the oil tank access door latches as follows:
     (a) Remove the shim material from the faying surface of the oil tank access door with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC, if necessary.
     (b) If you need to add 0.03 in. (0.76 mm) or less, use PU3-0006adhesive, epoxy paste as a liquid shim.
1 Apply a layer of the PU3-0006adhesive, epoxy paste or equivalent to the faying surface of the oil tank access door latch. Make the thickness of the adhesive a little more than the distance you need to make the surfaces flush within 0.025 in. (0.63 mm) of each other.
     (c) If you need to add more than 0.03 in. (0.76 mm) but less than 0.09 in. (2.29 mm), use a laminated shim and PU3-0006adhesive, epoxy paste.
NOTE: If you need to add more than 0.09 in. (2.29 mm) of shim, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for instructions.
1 Make a laminated shim fit the faying surface under the oil tank access door latch. Adjust the thickness of the shim to approximately the distance that you measured at step 4.A.(4).
2 Put a layer of PU3-0006adhesive, epoxy paste on the laminated shim. Make the thickness of the adhesive a little more than the distance you need to make the surfaces flush within 0.025 in. (0.63 mm) of each other.
     (d) Put the oil tank access door latch with the shim on the oil tank access door. Push on the oil tank access door latch until there is no air in the layer of PU3-0006adhesive, epoxy paste.
